2010 NFL Draft: How Will Brandon Marshall's Trade To Miami Affect Draft?
The Miami Dolphins have finally found a true No. 1 wideout in two-time Pro-Bowler Brandon Marshall. The Dolphins sent two second-round picks, the 43rd pick this year and another in next year's draft, to Denver in return.
Marshall finally completes Miami's offense. Miami without a doubt will still be a run-first team with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, but opposing defenses cannot stuff the run with Marshall lined up on the right side. Miami's other receivers such as Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, Greg Camarillo, and especially Ted Ginn (unless traded) will benefit big time, and their numbers and play will definitely improve. Miami has now, with one move, become a serious contender in the east and in the league.
Now the question remains, what will Miami do with their 12th pick at next weekend's draft? We know that Miami will not a draft a wideout.
My guess would be Miami goes after a safety with this pick. Maybe Earl Thomas or Eric Berry (if he's there), and re-sign Jason Taylor (unless already signed by the Jets) to fill the void at outside linebacker.
If Taylor is not an option, Miami can either take Sergio Kindle, Jason Pierre-Paul, or Derrick Morgan here. Then they can look within the roster to fill the huge void at free safety, unless they make another huge splash and sign Darren Sharper to a short-term deal for a short-term solution.
Either way, Miami fans can start thinking playoffs again and maybe even Super Bowl with the addition of Marshall. With the team looking safe on offense they now can focus on the three big holes in their defense; safety, outside linebacker, and nose tackle. They are all positions I think all will be answered by the end of draft weekend.
What player do you think Miami will take with the 12th pick now that they have added Marshall? Share your thoughts.
