Santonio Holmes Trade: Pittsburgh Steelers Show Their True Colors
As I woke up to a Monday morning one hour ago, to the news of the Jets acquiring receiver Santonio Holmes.
Despite being a fan of the rival Baltimore Ravens throughout my life, I didn't see it coming.
It comes almost as surprising as the McNabb trade, but instead it's a different animal.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There was no market for Santonio Holmes (at least to my knowledge), and idea of New York getting him for a fifth round pick does shock me in every way.
However, when I examine the situation closer, I saw the Steelers show their true colors, which is what I was looking for a few weeks ago when reflecting on the Ben Roethlisberger situation.
Yes, I'm sure a factor was the idea of Holmes being in the last year of his contract.
But, this is what the Steelers do. The Rooney Family will not change their ways for any player, not even one who caught the game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl a few seasons ago.
Whether it was Plaxico Burress or Joey Porter, the Steelers find ways to replace these stars who are both head cases and command a lot of money.
To be honest, I thought it might be different in this case. With a forgettable offseason the Pittsburgh Steelers were facing, I only saw a suspension in the making for both Ben and Santonio.
The Steelers, though, have shown they will not change for one player.
Even with the talent Holmes brings to the table, the Steelers feel with the top scouting department they have, that they can reload through this deep draft class as they have done in years past.
The Holmes trade will impact the Steelers on the field this season. However, in the foreseeable future, I think Pittsburgh made a tough, yet right decision in moving on from the troubled star.
