Oakland Raiders: What Was That All About?
For a lot of Raiders fans, this offseason was filled with a lot of pointing and wondering.
From the media, they seemed determined to complain about some deals, like Kelly's whopper contract, or signing another safety in Wilson.
What's odd about it is that these same media demons failed to look beyond their own noses, to see what was cooking, or burning, down around them.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap šø
For example, after last year's massive meltdown, KC goes out...and gets rid of Jared Allen.
Um, what?
Right...a talented, strong player, young, and purely animalistic, they sent him off to Minnesota.
Um, ok...thanks KC.
Some people will say, "But they drafted Glenn Dorsey." But can you imagine how this team would function if Allen and Dorsey were BOTH there?
People say, "But Dorsey also will be able to stop McFadden...." All game long? With three different running backs?
The other act that left people scratching their heads was the QB option. Again, I won't complain...I'm a Raider fan.
Next up is Denver.
Again, a team that looked really flat. Some of that is attributed to Cutler's medical condition. However, on paper, not a lot was done. Clady, will take a year to grow into his position...welcome to the NFL, kid.
The WR corps is still learning, as is anyone who wants to step up and be a running back. Our latest option is a guy named Michael Pittman...who has his own skeleton closet to work with. If this is how you improve a team's image, you guys missed big time.
San Diego, the NFL's star child, has an interesting selection of players, and chaos. You have a coach who wants to spread around the talent, when there's only one primary weapon to speak of.
The result? In the first weeks of 2007, you saw San Diego get beat by KC. After they locked Norv in his office, they proceeded to win again, until injuries started to take its toll.
By this time, Norv escaped, and San Diego saw it's best attempt to get into the Super Bowl go down due to LT's injury.
So, what does San Diego do for an encore?
They let Michael Turner leave via free agency (too many Turners on the team), they lost Lorenzo Neal, the fullback who made LT's job look real easy, and they're also wondering when Gates plans to return. Gates being one of three primary position-players on this team that are injured.
Not good, especially when those three are about 90 percent of your offensive power.
So, by all means, have a giggle, media. But then look at what your AFC West teams are doing...and try not to spit your latte at the monitor.
