2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap šø
New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts
Sportsbook Odds: Colts -7.5
The New York Jets have been the Cinderella of the 2009 playoffs and they will hope that the clock doesnāt strike midnight when they face the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday.
The Jets have been a road underdog for two straight weeks and have won outright both times. We all know that winning three straight on the road is never easy and the Jets will have to do exactly that.
The good news for them is they have two of the most important qualities that a team needs when they go out on the road: a good running game and a good defense.
The Jets have the best of both worlds as they entail the top-ranked rushing offense in the NFL and the top-ranked defense.
Even so, a lot of people are skeptical about the Jets this week just because of how they have been getting by in recent weeks. Last week, the Jets won by three points when the San Diego Chargers Pro Bowl kicker, Nate Kaeding, missed three field goals. Clearly, that made a difference in the game.
The Jets were the first team to defeat the Indianapolis Colts this season, which has to be resting somewhere in the back of the Colts minds.
The Colts were a perfect 14-0 when the Jets came to town in Week 16 but they decided it better to rest their starters rather than risk injury. The Jets, needing the win, took advantage, which eventually helped them qualify for the playoffs.
Now the Colts will have to take care of business the old fashioned way ā they had a chance to eliminate the Jets from the playoffs and they didnāt take it.
The main issue for New York is the fact that they are extremely one-dimensional. The Jets simply donāt trust rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez to win them the game, which means theyāll have to run it plenty. If the Jets can do that, theyāll be in it. If not, the Colts will win easily.
Overall, the Jets game plan is too vanilla to win the AFC Championship. The Colts will stop the run and put the Jets in a bad spot.
