Suh vs. McCoy: Is It 2010's Version of Stafford vs. Sanchez?

If you’re in the market for a dominant defensive tackle in this year’s draft it’s your lucky year. Two of the best prospects in the 2010 NFL Draft are Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy. Now when you have two great players that play the same position you always want to compare and contrast them.

Last year in the 2009 draft the heated debate was between quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez. Now the only difference between last year’s debate and this year’s is that Ndamukong Suh is the sure fire best prospect in the draft. I thought it would be fun to compare and contrast Suh and McCoy, just as Mel Kiper and Todd McShay did last year with Stafford and Sanchez.

Now when I do these comparisons and contrasts between Suh and McCoy I’m going to relate them to Stafford and Sanchez. The topics of debate will be strength, speed, decision making, potential, star capability, college production, and cooler name.

Strength: (when comparing strength I’m going to have to compare the QB’s by arm strength)

Stafford or Sanchez:  Stafford by far

Suh or McCoy: Suh

Speed: (overall game speed and 40 yard time)

Stafford or Sanchez: Stafford wins by .07 of a tenth over Sanchez

Suh or McCoy: McCoy edges Suh when it comes overall game speed and quickness.

Decision Making:

Stafford or Sanchez: Sanchez wins this one because this was Stafford’s biggest knock coming out

Suh or McCoy: Tie both are great decision makers

Potential:

Stafford or Sanchez: Sanchez wins this one because he didn’t get drafted by the Lions.

Suh or McCoy: Both have great potential, but both could be drafted by the Lions.

Star Capability:

Stafford or Sanchez: Sanchez he was already in GQ as a rookie and dated a model!

Suh or McCoy: Suh by far because he’s already a star coming out of college.

College Production:

Stafford or Sanchez: Being a one and done player Sanchez can’t win this one.

Suh or McCoy: Suh makes McCoy look like a JV player when it comes down to the Stats.

Cooler Name:

Stafford or Sanchez: Come on now it’s the Dirty Sanchez

Suh or McCoy: Just like Dirty Sanchez, “The House of Spears” comes out on top.
