Smoke Signals: Some believe, some do not
Joe Gibbs told Mike Shanahan that Dan Snyder won't interfere in personnel decisions. That's obviously good news, but I wonder if Snyder will show Shanny the same deference he showed Gibbs. After all, Snyder grew up idolizing Gibbs. I don't think he grew up idolizing Shanahan. And not everyone believes Snyder can change his ways and leave the professionals alone to rebuild the team he has ruined.
Steve Beuerlein , a close friend of Shanahan who played quarterback for him in Los Angeles and Denver and now serves as an analyst for CBS said believes Snyder will leave Shanny alone because he has no choice .

"I'm assuming there's an understanding that Dan will do his very best to stay out of it. I know Mike well enough to know that he wouldn't jump into an opportunity where he thought that'd be any type of problem."
Mark Schlereth , who won 3 Super Bowls playing for both Joe Gibbs and Mike Shanahan was on ESPN's "Mike & Mike Show" this morning and made a number of comments about Shanahan being in DC to coach the Redskins. Schlereth believes the Redskins will become a running team because that's what Shanny likes to do. He also believes Jason Campbell will be back because he's big, athletic and strong-armed -- the things Shanny likes in a quarterback. Schelereth also says Shanahan understands why he was fired in Denver and has resolved to change the habits that cost him his second head coaching job. Finally, Schlereth believes that Snyder has genuinely stepped back from the football decisions and will let Shanny and Bruce Allen run that show. Let's hope Mark "Stink" Schlereth is correct about all of that.
