2. Mickey Craft, 608,100

3. Sergio Castelluccio, 548,500

4. Michael Sklenicka, 540,600

5. Joseph Connor, 511,100

8. Grayson Ramage, 471,000

9. Larry Smalley, 469,000

10. Jared Hamby, 455,000

Grayson Ramage topped the counts early in the day, but Craft surged ahead in the evening and had comfortably surpassed 500,000 an hour before the dinner break.

PokerNews' Samuel Cosby described how he managed it:

Per WSOP's official website, Craft said: You don't run across those hands very often in a tournament. That was awesome. This is my first Main Event and I got hit in the face by the deck."

He continued to add to his total after the break until he had passed the 600,000 mark, per the event's official Twitter feed:

Craft dropped 25,000 in a single hand to briefly drop below 600,000 when his opponent had two pair, kings and nines, but he made late gains to remain in contention at the top.

He was overtaken by Bayley, though, who made a big move when he won a hand with two pair, aces and eights.

Away from the featured table and the top of the standings, one of the day's most memorable hands saw Cherish Andrews pull off an incredible bluff when she convinced an opponent to fold on a full house.

She spoke to PokerNews about the hand:

Andrews revealed her chip count at the end of the night, which was enough to get her 33rd place out of the 2,219 participants:

The survivors of Day 1C will compete on Wednesday, before all three flights will come together for the first time on Thursday.

Per the event's schedule, they will then be whittled down to the final nine by the close of play on Monday.
