Tony Parker out vs. Warriors with Back Injury
San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker won't play Saturday against the Golden State Warriors due to back stiffness, the Spurs announced.Ā
This is another setback for the veteran, who dealt with kneeĀ injuries earlier in the season. He played 72 contests in 2015-16, which was the first time since the 2010-11 campaign he surpassed the 70-game mark.
Parker's resume is impressive and underscores how important he is to San Antonio's success. He is a six-time All-Star, four-time champion, four-time member of an All-NBA Team and was named the 2007 NBA Finals MVP.

Luka, Cade Eligible for MVP
While he is not quite the same playmaker he was in his prime, he still averaged 11.9 points and 5.3 assists per game last season and is following that up with 10.4 points and 4.7 assistsĀ in 2016-17.
Fortunately for the deep Spurs, they have other places they can turn while Parker is out. Patty MillsĀ has proved capable of handling the point-guard duties in Parker's absence, and Manu Ginobili can initiate the offense with his versatile skill set.
The Spurs also have Danny Green to carry the offense for extended stretches.
While San Antonio can use Parker's veteran leadership and playmaking abilities back for the postseason, it has more than enough to survive without him in the short term. Ā
