Latest on Lin's Timeline to Return

Monday, Jan. 23

Nets general manager Sean Marks provided an update on Lin's status on Monday:

"

During the course of his rehab, Jeremy re-aggravated his strained left hamstring and will be out approximately three to five weeks as he continues to work towards a full recovery.

We understand and appreciate Jeremy's competitive desire to get back on the court with his teammates, however, we are going to be cautious with his rehab in order to ensure that he is at full strength once he returns.

Marks Comments on Lin's Injury

Wednesday, Dec. 28

Marks said Lin's injury is not as bad as the last one, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post. Per Newsday's Greg Logan, Marks added there is no timetable for his return.

Just five games into the season, Lin suffered a left hamstring strain that held him out from Nov. 2 until Dec. 12.

Lin Has Been Star for Nets When Healthy

Upon his return, Lin continued to be the face of the franchise alongside Brook Lopez, averaging 13.6 points, 6.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game entering Monday's contest.

Since bursting onto the national landscape as a member of the New York Knicks during the 2011-12 season, Lin has played for five different teams over the past six seasons, although his deal with the Nets is worth $38.3 million over the next three years, per Spotrac.

The injury troubles could raise the question of whether he was a worthy investment.

In Lin's absence, Sean Kilpatrick will continue to provide relief in the backcourt as he looks to continue his impressive third season in the league.

With 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this year, Kilpatrick has emerged as a viable option behind Lin.
