Palmer's Presence Essential in Cardinals' Offense
Drew Stanton replaced Palmer late in the fourth quarter of Week 6. Palmer was 23-of-34 for 213 yards and one touchdown before exiting.
Palmer has had an up-and-down career after being the first overall pick in the 2003 draft. He spent nine years with the Cincinnati Bengals and Oakland Raiders before landing with the Cardinals before the 2013 season.
The quarterback's first three seasons with the Cardinals were outstanding, building a 29-9 record as a starter. In 2015, he was named to his third career Pro Bowl while leading the NFL in Total QBR at 82.15, per Pro-Football-Reference.com.
Although the 2016 season hasn't necessarily gone as expected, the 36-year-old veteran is still one of the best in the NFL at his position.
While the Cardinals have plenty of skill players capable of carrying the offense, there is still a drop-off when Palmer isn't in the lineup.
