Austin Davis, Travis Benjamin Fantasy Outlook After Josh McCown's Injury

Mike NorrisNov 30, 2015

Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Josh McCown suffered a shoulder injury during his team's 33-27 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football and left the locker room in a sling after the game, per Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Austin Davis came in during the fourth quarter and threw a game-tying touchdown pass to wide receiver Travis Benjamin with one minute, 47 seconds left in the game.

While the fourth-year quarterback was impressive in his short time on the field, it's hard to say how well he will play moving forward. Those were the first 10 passes he had attempted all season, but they were good ones.

He'll face a solid defense in Week 13 against the Cincinnati Bengals, who allow just 14.7 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, according to ESPN.com.

Although he looked good, consider Davis a QB3 because of his small sample size and tough matchup. Plus, former starter Johnny Manziel could possibly win the job back after the team demoted him to third string, though that's not likely.

While Davis may not be a great play at quarterback, Benjamin is a solid WR2 play. Regardless of who plays quarterback for the Browns, the ball goes to Benjamin:

This was the second game in a row in which Benjamin saw at least 10 targets and the sixth overall. It was the first time he had scored since Week 3, but as long as balls are going in his direction, he has the potential to break out for a big game.

His touchdown drought keeps him from being a WR1, but his 54 receptions and 826 yards should make you feel comfortable plugging him in as your second wide receiver.
