Adrian Peterson Ties O.J. Simpson for Most 200-Yard Rushing Games in NFL History
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is used to setting NFL records, so the former MVP certainly had a smile on his face during his team's 30-14 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday when he tied O.J. Simpson's mark for the most 200-yard rushing games in NFL history with six.
NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano provided details on Peterson's record-tying mark:
Fittingly, Peterson broke the 200-yard barrier on an 80-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for Minnesota. He finished Sunday's contest with 203 yards on 26 carries, moving his NFL-leading total to 961 rushing yards through nine games.
The NFL's official Twitter account provided footage of Peterson's scamper:
Peterson entered the league in 2007 when the Vikings took him seventh overall in the draft. According to ESPN Stats & Info, his six 200-yard games during that span are twice as many as any other running back in the NFL:
| 2007 | Chicago Bears | 224 |
| 2007 | San Diego Chargers | 296 |
| 2012 | Green Bay Packers | 210 |
| 2012 | St. Louis Rams | 212 |
| 2013 | Chicago Bears | 211 |
| 2015 | Oakland Raiders | 203 |
There was a lot of uncertainty around Peterson coming into the season after he played in one game last year and hit the age of 30, but the 2012 NFL MVP has left no doubt about his on-field skills.
Making the record even better for Peterson and the Vikings is how well the team is playing in 2015. The victory over Oakland moved Minnesota's record to 7-2, trailing only Carolina in the NFC. The Vikings were viewed as sleepers coming into the year, but the team is quickly becoming a Super Bowl threat.
Having Peterson run with speed and power like he has all year only makes Minnesota that much more dangerous.
