Peyton Manning Breaks Brett Favre's All-Time Passing Yards Record vs. Chiefs
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning matched Brett Favre's all-time wins record in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers. On Sunday against the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs, Manning achieved another notable milestone.
The 39-year-old legend eclipsed Favre for No. 1 on the all-time passing yards list with a four-yard completion to running back Ronnie Hillman in the first quarter. The long-time Packers quarterback totaled 71,838 yards in his career. Bleacher Report noted Manning's achievement:

Manning entered Week 9 needing 284 yards to eclipse Favre, per NFL Network's Rand Getlin, but he fell three yards short of that mark while facing his former team, the Indianapolis Colts. Indy handed Denver its first loss of the season and denied Manning sole possession of the wins record as well.
The last pass Manning threw in the Colts game was an interception, which worsened his uncharacteristically bad touchdown-to-interception ratio to 9-to-13 on the year. His last throw in Week 10 against the Chiefs was also a pick, as he was benched for Brock Osweiler after four interceptions.
Epic as Manning's latest record is, it's no secret the signal-caller has struggled through much of the 2015 campaign. The Broncos have leaned more on their elite defense than their future Hall of Fame quarterback to get where they are in the AFC playoff picture.
At this juncture, Manning's regular-season records mean little compared to the prospect of a second Super Bowl ring, which would help bolster his legacy. Even if he isn't playing at the level he was in his prime, championships are the measure of greatness for the few quarterbacks in Manning's stratosphere.
As long as Manning plays well enough for Denver to continue winning, he will have the chance to put more distance between himself and Favre in the record book. That appears to be in doubt after his horrendous Week 10 performance—the all-time passing record notwithstanding.
