Jason Pierre-Paul Addresses Criticism of On-Field Skills After Finger Amputation

Mike ChiariSep 17, 2015

Questions continue to swirl regarding when New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul will return to action after losing his right index finger in a fireworks accident, but JPP doesn't understand the holdup.

According to ESPN.com's Dan Graziano, the G-Men are unconvinced the two-time Pro Bowler is ready to play. Conversely, Pierre-Paul doesn't believe his on-field performance will be negatively impacted by the amputation:

That tweet comes on the heels of the South Florida standout posting an Instagram video that showed him working out as he attempts to prove to the organization he is ready to contribute (warning: video contains NSFW language):

New York is 0-1 after surrendering a late lead to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. Big Blue was nickel-and-dimed by Tony Romo, and it can be argued JPP's presence as a pass-rusher would have made life more difficult for the Dallas signal-caller.

If Pierre-Paul is to be believed regarding his form, bringing in his team-high 12.5 sacks from last season would be a huge boost for the Giants pass rush.
