Patriots Fan Tweets That He's Going to Run on the Field, NFL Kicks Him Out
During Thursday’s NFL season opener between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers in Foxborough, a Pats fan tweeted that he was going to run onto the field.
That was at 9:21 p.m. About an hour later, the fan posted that he had been ejected from the game. (Warning: Second tweet contains NSFW language):
It wasn't a ban for life—just the night:
Now, tweets like this are common among fans. They're intended to get publicity, though—most don’t actually run onto the playing field.
Still, you can't yell "Fire!" in a movie theater. It’s unfortunate that this guy got the boot (and that he got fewer than 2,000 retweets), but the league can’t have rogue fans bolting onto the gridiron mid-game.
That he was sitting so close probably factored into his removal, too. Here's how the New England fan recapped the events:
He was fired up before the game, and like many Pats fans, has it out for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell:
But Goodell has bigger things to worry about—like a stadium of non-ejected fans chanting about his whereabouts.
