Earl Thomas Injury: Updates on Seahawks Star's Recovery from Torn Labrum
Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas continues to recover from offseason surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder. While he has been unavailable for all of preseason, he is active against the St. Louis Rams in Week 1, the team announced on Twitter.
Thomas previously spoke about needing a harness for his injured shoulder, via Gregg Bell of the News Tribune, saying he was "fighting" the training staff about having to wear it. However, the safety said he "came to his senses" and will use a harness for the team's season opener.
On Sept. 8, ESPN's Ed Werder reported Thomas would play in Week 1, despite the fact the free safety hasn't hit or tackled in practice as of now.

"I love the game so much," said Thomas at the time, per Werder. "My teammates are important to me. And I know even if I'm not 100 [percent] out there, I still give us a great chance to have success by owning my role."
On Aug. 5, Thomas passed his physical and was removed from the PUP list, the Seahawks announced.
As a high-impact, battle-tested veteran, Thomas didn't really need camp practices or preseason games for anything more than shaking off the rust.
