EA Sports noted the final vote will take place starting at 9 a.m. ET Wednesday, with the winner being announced during ESPN's 6 p.m. ET airing of SportsCenter.
Beckham talked about being a finalist via Bleacher Report's Uninterrupted:
Both players have lobbied for votes in the previous voting segments. That's likely to amplify starting early Wednesday morning.
It's an interesting final battle.
Beckham took the league by storm last fall as a rookie. He racked up 91 catches for over 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games, with his most famous grab being the one-handed, leaping, turning effort against the Dallas Cowboys.
He's going to face stiff competition from Gronkowski, though.
Gronk is one of the most popular players in the NFL thanks to his fun-loving, off-field attitude. Don't be surprised if the Patriots' fanbase attempts to flex its collective muscle after the league handed down the Deflategate punishments Monday, per Greg Botelho and Mariano Castillo of CNN.com, including a four-game suspension for quarterback Tom Brady.
The Beckham vs. Gronkowski finale also marks yet another sports faceoff between Boston and New York. Accordingly, expect both cities to become heavily involved in the vote throughout the day Wednesday.
All things considered, Gronkowski probably holds a slight edge heading into the final vote. Either way, Madden is getting a high-profile cover athlete for its latest edition.
