Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports provided more information on the deal, noting the Nationals will receive a pair of minor leaguers:
Scott Boeck of USA Today clarified the prospects heading Washington's way:
After last year's debacle, in which the Rangers basically ran out of healthy bodies to use by the end of May, Detwiler is a nice low-risk gamble. He's pitched out of the bullpen each of the last two years, posting ERA totals in the 4.00 range, but he does have experience starting games, having done it 27 times in 2012.
As long as Detwiler can stay healthy for the Rangers, they will be more than happy with their investment. He gives new manager Jeff Banister another late-inning matchup left-hander to use.
