Laying the Foundation: USC Football Recruiting in 2009 (Kyle Prater)
One of the biggest needs recruiting-wise for the Trojans in 2009 is the wide receiver position.
With Damien Williams, Ronald Johnson, and perhaps even David Ausberry possibly leaving early, the wide receiver position will need to be restocked to give either Aaron Corp or Matt Barkley quality wideouts to pad their expected gaudy touchdown statistics.
Although there will be talent returning in the form of Brice Butler, Jordan Cameron, and perhaps Da'Von Flournoy, there will need to be a focused effort to recruit at least a couple of quality prep wide receivers in this 2009 recruiting season.
One of those players could be Kenny Stills, a super-fast wideout from La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, Calif., although he is no longer the "lock" that he once appeared to be for USC.
However, the No.ย 1 wide receiver, Kyle Prater from Proviso West High School in Hillside, Ill., now looks very promising to sign with the Men of Troy.
Prater, a 6'6", 205-pound receiver who catches everything thrown his way, is being recruited by every major program in the country.
However, when asked about USC, Prater had this to say:ย "I want to get out there and check out that school and that program. I like what they do out there."
Of all the schools that are recruiting Prater, USC is the only one that he said he definitely plans on visiting.
I am sure Kyle Prater has looked around and seen the quarterback situation in Trojan land.
He knows that Barkley waits out West with his golden arm, and fellow 2009 recruit Jesse Scroggins will take over when Barkley leaves for NFL riches.
USC is well-placed to become one of theย most prominentย offenses in the very near future.
They have an offense that is young and isย stocked with talent to take over for those who graduate.
All the Trojans need is some quality talent to catch all the bullets that Barkley andย Co.ย have loaded in their howitzers.
You know, someone like Kyle Prater.
