ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports why C.J. Mosley was suspended:

Original Text

Hours away from their kickoff against the Atlanta Falcons in London, the Detroit Lions suspended defensive tackle C.J. Mosley for the next two weeks.

According to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com, Mosley violated team rules:

Twentyman also noted that Mosley won't be on the sidelines against Atlanta because the Lions already sent him home:

The veteran defensive tackle's presence will be missed. Despite having just 11 tackles this season, he has 2.5 sacks and one tackle for loss. The defense's strength is up front, and its depth is a big reason why.

Justin Rogers of MLive.com noted that Mosley's suspension opens the door for rookie Caraun Reid to get some meaningful snaps in a game:

Reid has just two tackles this season, both coming in Week 4 against the New York Jets, so any playing time he can get will benefit him.

Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley are still there plugging up the middle of the defensive line, so the Lions are not hurting for playmakers. Mosley's suspension does challenge their depth, which could proved detrimental against a big-play offense like Atlanta's.

With Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush possibly out for this week as well, the Lions may need more out of Matthew Stafford than they have gotten in the last two games.
