Justin Blackmon has received a four-game suspension (as per Adam Schefter), meaning Jacksonville is without its wide receiver in the Jaguars' opening games against Kansas City, at Oakland, at Seattle and home against Indianapolis.
There has been no news about what rule has been broken to activate the four-game suspension, but in doing so, Blackmon has voided $10,772,248 of guarantees in his '13-'15 contract years for this violation. The former first-round pick was arrested as a rookie for an aggravated DUI charge just a few months into his Jacksonville Jaguars career.
Blackmon can play in the preseason games but will miss a double-header on the west coast against Oakland and Seattle. The Jaguars will be on the road and will have to rely on Cecil Shorts III, recent draft pick Ace Sanders and free-agent signing Mohamed Massaquoi to carry the load in their opening month of the NFL season.
Blackmon can rejoin the team on September 30, after Jacksonville's game against the Colts on September 29.
