NFL: Matt Leinart's Party Blown Out of Proportion

By now I am sure that you have heard about the party that Matt Leinart had over the weekend. Which leads to me so say, 'Who gives a rat's behind?"

I really think that there is too much being made of this. We are talking about 24-year-old. All the girls look to be of the proper age to be there. Big deal that he is using a beer bong and having a good time with some friends.

I am almost 24 and can tell you from experience that is what happens at parties thrown by people in their 20's. Its the offseason and I am sure that Leinart is working out and getting ready for the upcoming season.

The only reason that this is huge news is because Leinart is a big name star and because of the Pacman Jones stuff. This is a non-issue and will be forgot about by the time training camp rolls around.

The only thing that makes me mad about this is Coach Whisenhunt decided to throw his two cents into it. Saying that it "disappointed him" hearing the news. The only part of it that should disappoint him is that someone sold the pictures to the websites so that people like ESPN could run coverage and debate this subject to death.

Most athletes go out and party or even throw parties at their houses. Yet only some are criticized for it.

Gilbert Arenas threw a huge birthday party for himself in Washington, D. C. just hours after a home game and nothing negative was said about that. But Matt Leinart throws a party in the offseason with some friends and gets nothing but negative press.

Just in case you might have missed that Arenas's party came after a game in the MIDDLE of the season and Leinart's party was in the middle of the OFFSEASON!!!!

So like I said at the beginning "who cares?" It was a dead issue when it came out. There is no reason to even debate and question it.

C.J., you are the first person I have heard make this statement: "All the girls look to be of the proper age to be there."

Every report I have found states the girls were under 21 (I'm not saying they all were underage, but I'm not going to make an argument for their age either).

I appreciate your passion for defending Leinart, but dude, don’t suggest “all the girls look” when you know as well as everyone else that looks can and usually are deceiving. – You know, that’s why people are carded who “look” like they are under the age of 30, because looks don’t always tell the truth.

      Timothy,
I do agree with you on the looks can be deceiving. But I have not heard anyone say that they looked underage. Even on Mike and Mike both Greeny and Golic said that the girls looked old enough. Plus if it happened on his property then little can be done because it is private property.

But you have to agree that this is a non issue.

Aiding and abetting minors is a crime...It doesn't matter if its on private property or not, either.
Look at the jackpot parents all over the country are getting into by serving alcohol to underage kids.

This kid is a moron, he's playing with fire.

Have you ever heard of Mark Chmura? Not recently, and there's a reason for that - look it up

The fact is that many of these 'women' were college students. Unless they're super-seniors, the odds are they are under 21.

With all the behavioral problems of professional athletes these days, this is right up there with the dumbest and most idiotic of them all.

Come on...lighten up....It's his off season & he is a KID!!!!!! Joe Namath was caught out with broads all the time & no one ever blinked an eye..Now in this day & age it is not socially accepted...What a world we live in huh...As for the underage thing. Do we 100% know they are underage & maybe they have fakes, I know I have been duped by under 21 girls I have met in bars...

Is Leinart obligated to check the girls' ID before letting them take a beer out of the cooler? This isn't parents hosting a kegger for high school graduation when they know that the kids are underage.

And, John, I think that bringing Chmura into the discussion is going a bit overboard. Chmura was accused (and acquitted, by the way) of inappropriate sexual behavior with his kids' 17-year-old babysitter. I don't think that this reaches that level by a long shot.

You're right, Rich...I'm just playing Devils advocate for all these guys who think this is acceptable behavior for a player the Cardinals want kids to look up to..

He's been known to be a partier, so he has to pick his spots better - and not publicize it by mugging for cameras, too

This IS way out of proportion now!

If he the party is at his house, he would probably know the girls that are there, and know their age.

Saying someone "looks of age" doesn't really work, at least not when you use that excuse to Dateline's Chris Hanson.

What a world we live in? Are you implying that it's a shame we live in a society where it's frowned upon to pour beer down a underage girl's throat? I'm assuming you know that it's illegal to drink under the age of 21. And it doesn't matter if the girls "look" 21, because if it's at your house...you're responsible. Anyway, I just think it's sad that we live in a society that defends, and in many cases encourages, kids drinking (which often leads to sex or drunk driving) before the age of 21, or even 18 as you see in high schools nowadays.

I am not defending that right. But come on!!! Do you really think that Matt did not know all those people? They were all his friends and were there willingly. I would say and not stretching to far to say that I knows his friends age
