Caleb Moore has died from injuries suffered during a snowmobile crash last week at the Winter X Games, according to a report from Christa Dubill of KSHB 41 Action News in Colorado:

A friend of the family tells 41 Action News that Caleb Moore was brain dead after surgery and kept alive long enough for doctors to harvest his organs for donation. His publicist also confirmed the news.

The accident occurred as Moore was attempting a trick. He was trying for a backflip, but the nose of the snowmobile hit the top of a hill and flipped him over, with the snowmobile appearing to strike him.

Moore actually got up and walked away from the accident, diagnosed with a concussion. A report from Rachel George of USA Today on Sunday noted that Moore had complications shortly after.

At the Aspen Valley Hospital, Moore was diagnosed with a heart contusion after bleeding was found on his heart. He had emergency surgery and remained in intensive care throughout the week. There were also complications with his brain.

On Monday, Charles Moore, Caleb's grandfather, was quoted in the Denver Post as saying that Caleb's chances for survival did not look good:

Caleb is not doing good at all. The prognosis is not good at all. It's almost certain he's not going to make it.

Unfortunately, that turned out to be the case.

Moore was just 25 years old. He was competing in his third-career Winter X Games. He took bronze medals in the freestyle event in 2010 and 2011, and won silver in the best-trick competition last year.
