As the holiday season approaches, Real Madrid and their players, like many others, have been wishing Merry Christmas to all. As part of his work with the Real Madrid Foundation, Ramos did just that recently.
Now, if that doesn't sound interesting, you're right. Until you hear Ramos speak. His words are in English and they're a bit…off.
In fairness, English is not Ramos' first language. Clearly. Judging by the clip, which appears above, it's not his fourth language either.
"Mori Chrisma?" Is that a mispronunciation of Merry Christmas or Hare Krishna? Why was he so nervous anyway? Didn't they give him time to rehearse beforehand?
We shouldn't poke fun. Our Spanish is just as poor, if not worse. Still, though, we'd like to think we could go on camera and wish you all a big ol' feliz navidad (¡Gracias, Jose Feliciano!)
It's not like Ramos is one-dimensional or anything. As you might recall, Ramos nailed a 53-yard gridiron football field goal when Real Madrid visited the home stadium of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles. And he even made that look kinda, sorta easy.
Speaking English, though? Not so much.
Anyway, Ramos' videotaped Christmas card serves as our Set Piece Video of the Day for this Tuesday. Enjoy, and have yourselves a merry little Chrisma and a happy new year.
