EPL: Player Ratings for Tottenham Hotspur's 4-1 Win over Bolton Wanderers

Ryan DayMay 2, 2012

Tottenham, you should be ashamed of yourselves—for picking on teams smaller than you.

Last week, it was a 2-0 domination of Blackburn. This week it's more of the same in a 4-1 win over Bolton that was over before it started.

The scoring started with Luka Modric slotting home a corner from Rafael van der Vaart in the 37th minute.

But did Harry Redknapp (scorned by the FA on Tuesday) stop there?

Heck no.

The high-flying Dutchman also got on the scoresheet in the 60th minute to make it 2-0, and Emmanuel Adebayor scored two in the 62nd and 69th minutes to make the game 4-1 in Tottenham's favor—completely out of reach for lowly Bolton.

Spurs looked absolutely clinical in their quest to wrap up fourth place in the league table and the final spot in next year's Champions League. How did the individual players grade out? Check out my individual ratings and tell me if you agree!

Goalkeeper

1 of 4

Brad Friedel: 7.0

Shame about his letting in that goal early in the second half. He stopped the header seconds earlier, but it's hard to stop a rocket of a shot from the top of the box. He did well the rest of the night to help increase Tottenham's goal differential dramatically.

Defenders

2 of 4

Kyle Walker: 6.0

He was turned around several times, and a cheap challenge caused the young English hopeful to receive the game's first booking. He had a lot of difficulty handling Martin Petrov.

Not a good night, but luckily the centre-backs did their job well.

Younes Kaboul: 6.5

He displayed physical play, great clearances and a number of dispossessions. He gave everything to the match, including the shirt off his back.

Okay, so his jersey ripped because of sloppy challenges to Bolton's forwards, but when it came to limiting Wanderers' chances, Kaboul did alright—not great, but not terrible either.

William Gallas: 6.0

The rarely used Frenchman showed why he's rarely used. A few bright spots on the evening, but he had a number of clumsy plays as he literally ran head on into David Ngog more than once.

Danny Rose: 7.0

Rose put in a fine display at right-back. Conservative tactics, but with few appearances the 21-year-old would rather be safe than sorry.

Ryan Nelsen: 7.0

Came on for the struggling William Gallas in the 87th minute. Absolutely nothing of note from the New Zealander.

Midfielders

3 of 4

Aaron Lennon: 7.5

Lennon did a great job keeping pace the whole match, and had a solid assist on Emmanuel Adebayor's second goal of the match. He had several runs along the right sideline, and I loved his enthusiasm and energy. If he plays this way consistently, he could be a long-term fixture at right wing.

Sandro: 6.0

Ugh. Sandro missed a great opportunity from Rafael van der Vaart in the 40th minute when he found himself unmarked and with possession, misjudging his shot horribly. VDV made sure he didn't have many chances after that.

Luka Modric: 8.0

Modric was an incredible (and possibly underrated) part of the club's win tonight. He was all over the pitch, supporting the defense when needed and inching up to support the attack when the pace dictated. He netted a great goal to open the scoring in the 37th minute, and was instrumental in the two that followed—sensational play from the Croatian.

Gareth Bale: 7.5

He played inside more than I would have liked, but seemed to relish the "all over the pitch" role. He had a great assist on Tottenham's third goal, and only increased in energy and enthusiasm as the match went on. He really wanted a goal of his own and it showed.

Louis Saha: 7.0

Saha came on for Lennon in the 84th minute. He was invisible in the waning minutes of a dominating match.

Forwards

4 of 4

Rafael van der Vaart: 8.0

Van der Vaart was in the right place at the right time again, this time in the 60th minute to take advantage of Blackburn's poor marking and Bale's beautiful pass off the wing. There was incredible energy and enthusiasm from VDV and all of Spurs' forwards.

Emmanuel Adebayor: 8.5

Well, color me surprised that Adebayor ended his dry spell. It looked as though VDV was going to steal the spotlight again, but the Togolese international did wonders against Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, scoring in the 62nd and 69th minutes. What a great way to break the dam and get Tottenham a little higher in goal differential.

Jake Livermore: 7.0

Livermore came on for VDV in the 80th minute, playing well in the midfield.
