The 2012 NFL schedule was released to the public today. To look at the full schedule click this link

Week 1: Minnesota Vikings vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Vikings are slated to start the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home. This match should be pretty interesting. The storyline in this matchup will likely revolve around the two quarterbacks selected in the first round in the 2011 NFL draft, Blaine Gabbert and Christian Ponder.

Prediction: Vikings win 28-24

Week 2: Minnesota Vikings at Indianapolis Colts

The Vikings will travel to Indianapolis to face the Andrew Luck and the Colts. This match might be a fun one to watch because both teams are equally matched. Luck and Ponder should be a interesting match to watch on both sides of the ball.

Prediction: Vikings win 21-17

Week 3: Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers

In Week 3 the Vikings host the San Francisco 49ers. This match is by far the hardest of the season so far for the team. The 49ers are looking to repeat as NFC West division champions while the Vikings are trying to get out of the cellar in the NFC North. This won't be a very exciting match, the Vikings will likely get blown out.

Prediction: Vikings lose 31-14

Week 4: Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions

Minnesota will travel to Detroit in their first matchup against a division rival. The Lions defeated the Vikings twice last season, but neither match was in decisive fashion. This may be the first upset of the season for the Vikings.

Don't be surprised if the Vikings find someone in the draft to put a body on Calvin Johnson because of the way he has destroyed the team in recent history.

Prediction: Vikings lose 28-27

Week 5: Minnesota Vikings vs. Tennessee Titans

If Adrian Peterson is healthy by Week 5, the matchup of him and Chris Johnson should be an exciting one in Minnesota. These two are still the two premier running backs in the game, and there will be a lot of eyes watching this game to see which one plays better.

Prediction: Vikings win 24-21

Week 6: Minnesota Vikings at Washington Redskins

The battle between the Vikings and Redskins should be a fun one to watch. Both teams are evenly matched and the Ponder and Robert Griffin III matchup should be exciting. This match will be very similar to the Week 2 match the team had with the Colts.

Prediction: Vikings lose 24-21

Week 7: Minnesota Vikings vs. Arizona Cardinals

In Week 7 the Arizona Cardinals will fly down to Minnesota and take on the Vikings. The Vikings and Cardinals have played each other every year since 2009, and the Vikings have won two of the last three. This will be another exciting match, but don't expect for it to be a blow out like it was last season.

Prediction: Vikings win 27-20

Week 8: Minnesota Vikings vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In the first Thursday night football game for the Vikings in six years, the team will face Tampa Bay at home. Minnesota is looking for redemption against this team because of the way they ripped the Vikings hearts out last season when they came back from a 17-0 deficit in the second half. This should be another toss up, and the Vikings might come out with the win here.

Prediction: Vikings lose 17-14

Week 9: Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks

This match should be circled by every single Viking fan because of one reason, Sidney Rice. Rice left the Vikings in the offseason in 2011 to play for the Seahawks. The team will travel to Seattle to face him with his new team.

If Rice is healthy, expect for the Viking fans to be riled up and give him a piece of their mind. This should be very interesting. Don't be surprised if the Vikings leave Seattle with a victory.

Prediction: Vikings win 31-28

Week 10: Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions

The Lions will come to Minnesota and look to pick up a quick victory against the team. The Vikings have a better chance of upsetting the team in Detroit then in Minnesota, because the team might be tired after going 10 straight weeks without a break.

Prediction: Vikings lose 31-17

Week 11: Bye week

Week 12: Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears

The Vikings will travel down to Chicago in the freezing cold temperatures in November and battle Brandon Marshall an the Bears. The Bears have beat the Vikings five times in a row and don't expect anything different here. The Bears may win the division this season, and the Vikings might not have much to say about it.

Prediction: Vikings lose 27-10

Week 13: Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

Christian Ponder and company will visit Green Bay Week 13 and try to steal a game. Unfortunately for him, the Vikings have lost to them four times in a row, and not much will change here. The Packers will be in a fierce battle with the Bears and Lions for the division crown at this point in the season. Don't expect for the Vikings to stop them in their tracks.

Prediction: Vikings lose 38-24

Week 14: Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears

Once again, the Vikings will likely be outplayed by the Bears here. However, if the Vikings ever had a chance of upsetting them, this is the game. Don't be surprised if the Packers and Lions fans are cheering for the Vikings as they steal a game away from "Da Bears."

Prediction: Vikings win 27-24

Week 15: Minnesota Vikings at St. Louis Rams

The matchup between Sam Bradford and Christian Ponder should be another fun one to watch. Expect a similar game to the Week 2 and Week 6 matchups against Indianapolis and Washington.

Prediction: Vikings win 28-17

Week 16: Minnesota Vikings at Houston Texans

Andre Johnson, Matt Schaub and Arian Foster will host the Vikings in this crucial Week 16 matchup. The Texans will be looking to either secure a playoff spot here or fighting to win the division. They will really need this game and if the Texans are healthy, don't expect for the Vikings to make a lot of noise.

The Texans have not beat the Vikings yet in their history, but they might have their first victory against Minnesota in 2012.

Prediction: Vikings lose 24-10

Week 17: Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers will come into Minnesota in Week 17. This game may be the last football game played in Minnesota because of the turmoil surrounding the Vikings stadium. The Vikings might have something to say about the Packers winning here, regardless of where Green Bay is at this point.

The Vikings will try their best to play spoiler here, and they might just do it.

Prediction: Vikings win 30-27

Vikings overall record: 8-8
