WWE Raw 4/9: Is John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar Leading to Cena vs. John Laurinaitus?

Cory CoolsonApr 10, 2012

The 4/9 edition of Raw was merely centered around Brock Lesnar.

A heel Lesnar opened the show to have a pretty nasty brawl with John Cena—separated by the wrestlers.

Lesnar went on to low-blow and F5 Cena later in the show—after Cena defeated David Otunga in the five-star main event of Raw (of course I'm kidding).

I really enjoyed Lesnar's return. Although it looks like he's still in UFC mode after some nasty punches to Cena—and his mic work could use some brushing up—I liked how his return played out.

They didn't make it seem like a gigantic deal, which inadvertently makes them seem like a stronger company.

The main thing to surprise me about Lesnar's return is that he is pretty blatantly associated with John Laurinaitus.

Actually, in my eyes, there's a bigger picture in Cena vs. Lesnar—and that's where Laurinaitus comes in.

It looked to me as if Laurinaitus had a beef with Cena. Laurinaitus laid some pretty blatant shots at him when he said Lesnar is the new face of the WWE.

Not to mention he wasn't in denial when Cena accused him of hiring Lesnar to get rid of Cena.

As I expected, Lesnar and Cena are confirmed to face each other at Extreme Rules, and I can only expect their program to last a few more months before Cena vs. Laurinaitus goes in full-swing.

Now onto the rest of the show:

Mark Henry defeated CM Punk in a fashion that did not acquire him the WWE Championship. After the match, Chris Jericho spilled alcohol on him. Things aren't really changing from where we were last week with the three.

Jericho and Punk had a strong segment beforehand, which didn't really have any content we haven't seen over the past month. It also dragged on too long.

Henry will be facing CM Punk for the WWE Championship next week in a no-DQ match. Does anybody else think Henry actually has a small chance at winning?

Brodus Clay and Santino Marella defeated Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger in a good match. I'm enjoying Clay and Santino's partnership thus far.

WWE needs to get Lord Tensai occupied with an angle fast because WWE is boring the fans to death with these long squash matches.

R-Truth defeated Cody Rhodes in a highly predictable angle where Big Show distracts Rhodes with an embarrassing moment.

I think if the horrendous backstage segment with the Three Stooges wouldn't have happened beforehand, the fans would have enjoyed the Three Stooges when one of them impersonated Hulk Hogan. The fans were just so happy to see Kane when he decimated the imposter Hogan.

Apparently people think Sheamus should be fired for attacking the referee. If he would have joined the "safe work environment" protest months ago, that would be a valid argument. But he really didn't do anything that bad.

Quote of the Night

CM Punk: "And as I lay there, in and out of consciousness, struggling to regain some semblance of where I are…where I am…where I was!"
