Shaquille O'Neal Agrees to Fight Jose Canseco in a Mixed Martial Arts Bout

Brian GoldsmithJun 7, 2018

Former Major League Baseball player, wannabe MMA fighter, and serial steroid user Jose Canseco, in an effort to stay somewhat relevant, has been challenging Shaquille O'Neal to a mixed martial arts fight on Twitter.

Shaq has been training in MMA for years, and would absolutely annihilate Canseco considering he's close to a foot taller and probably 100 pounds heavier, but Shaq has never responded to Canseco's challenges—until Tuesday.

"I challenged him a long time ago," Shaq told Reuters in an interview. "If he wants it done, he knows where to find me. He can be high off whatever, and I'll be high off Frosted Flakes."

When word of this got to Canseco, he took to Twitter again, tweeting:

"

Where should i dance with @shaq .vegas, new york, la, miami ?

— Jose Canseco (@JoseCanseco) March 14, 2012"

Then tweeting "therealdonaldtrump":

"

@therealdonaldtrump hug for u .do u want to hold my @shaq mma at your place ?need your advice you are The Man of Business

— Jose Canseco (@JoseCanseco) March 14, 2012"

And Wednesday night he's tweeting Shaq for his phone number:

"

@MMAWorldSeries @shaq email your phone number to joemelendez@msn.com and will call rite back

— Jose Canseco (@JoseCanseco) March 15, 2012"

Only time will tell if the fight actually takes place. Until then we can still enjoy Canseco's first and only professional fight against the 7'2" (same size as Shaq) Hong Man Choi at Dream 9.
