Lakers Rumors: L.A.'s Best Point Guard Trade Options
Which Star is the Best Fit for LA?
All of the following players have been rumored to be on the Lakers’ radar, and this is the power ranking of which possible acquisitions would help the most.
Sessions is the youngest of all the players the team is targeting with far more upside than either Raymond Felton or Kirk Hinrich. Add in the fact that he has little risk because he can walk after this season via free agency, and the Lakers have a deal waiting to get done.
Cleveland is trying to get what it can before he leaves, so if Los Angeles slow-plays this enough, they could get the guard for next to nothing.
After this season, Felton is a restricted free agent. That ability to control their own fate may be something that gives Felton the edge over Sessions in the Lakers’ eyes.
Hinrich would come in and play backup for Fisher, but it’s hard to say how many minutes a guy who was backing up Jeff Teague could steal at this point. While he is far from terrible, he just doesn’t fit unless the asking price drops.
The Atlanta Hawks guard is one of the best options on the trade market, but the Lakers have to take into consideration that he will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
