NBA All-Star Game 2012: 10 Most Unforgivable Snubs
Something needs to change as far as selecting the All-Star reserves because a lot of bad decisions were made this year.
Rather than addressing the players that shouldn't be on the roster, I'm going to tell you which players got cheated out of a trip to Orlando.
There are multiple players that should not be on the team, and more than enough players out there with more than enough credentials to take their spots.
Rudy Gay
1 of 10Rudy Gay is averaging about 18 points and seven rebounds to go along with two assists and nearly two steals per game.
He is playing some of the best basketball of his career, and I think it's safe to say that he is the best player on the young and talented Memphis Grizzlies squad despite the fact that Marc Gasol made the All-Star team and he didn't.
At the end of the day, I think an All-Star can be defined by many things and in Rudy Gay's case, I think he is the most valuable player for Memphis. He is one of the premier perimeter players in the league and if you take him away from the Grizzles, they are nowhere near the same caliber team.
Pau Gasol
2 of 10Every since Pau was not named an All-Star, he has found his groove.
I am not the biggest Gasol fan, but I do recognize his brilliance and what he brings to the Lakers. He is one of the most skilled big men in the game. A great passer, scorer and is the perfect compliment alongside Andrew Bynum.
Just take a look at his numbers throughout the season. Mind you, he's sharing the ball with the leading scorer in the league, Kobe Bryant, and Andrew Bynum, and it's clear he deserved to be an All-Star.
Rajon Rondo
3 of 10Rajon Rondo is what makes the Boston Celtics tick. Despite the fact that he sat out multiple games due to injury, he is still one of the best point guards in the league.
He is a triple-double waiting to happen every time he steps out onto the court. The last game he played in, he had 32 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists; but he wasn't selected to the All-Star team, while Paul Pierce was.
Definitely one of the top players in the league. I'm not sure what the coaches were thinking here.
Danilo Gallinari
4 of 10How does a team currently tied for fifth in the Western Conference have nobody being sent to the All-Star game?
Danilo Gallinari is arguably the best player on the deep Nuggets team. Averaging 17 points and five rebounds before his injury, he was a big part of Denver's stellar play.
Although it doesn't matter now that he is injured, I do think Gallinari deserves a lot more credit for being the versatile and talented player that he is.
Kyle Lowry
5 of 10Kyle Lowry has been mentioned in MVP talks this season, yet he can't even get an All-Star nod. Talk about mind-boggling.
Houston is tied for the fifth seed in the West with Lowry at the head of the offense for the Rockets. It will be tough for Lowry to accumulate the awards he deserves, but hopefully if he keeps up this level of play, he will be an All-Star next year.
Tyson Chandler
6 of 10I have always considered Tyson Chandler as one of the most underrated big men in the game today. He is long and athletic and possesses the ability to finish well around the rim and change shots on defense.
He has been playing some great basketball for the Knicks, especially in the absence of Melo and Amar'e.
A lot of his great pay has been flying under the radar due to the emergence of Jeremy Lin, but the truth is, they make a pretty deadly duo.
Nevertheless, whether or not Melo, Amar'e or Lin are playing, Chandler is one of the best centers in league.
Brandon Jennings
7 of 10Brandon Jennings' stock is rapidly rising. There is no doubt in my mind that he will make an All-Star appearance in the near future.
He can be an inconsistent player, but when he does come through, he comes through in a big way.
He is crafty and has a streetball edge to him that makes him one of the most exciting point guards to watch in the league.
Watch out for Jennings, he will be one of better guards in the league for years to come.
Josh Smith
8 of 10Josh Smith has come out and said that he believes he should have been an All-Star this year, and I'm sure he can find a lot of people out there who agree with him, including me.
He is one of the most athletic players in the league that often times flies under the radar playing behind the wanna-be superstar, Joe Johnson.
There is no reason that Johnson should have made the All-Star team over Smith if only one player was going to make it off that team.
Josh Smith possesses one of the most unique skill sets in the NBA. Maybe one day he will get the credit he deserves.
Kyrie Irving
9 of 10Yes, he's only a rookie, but he is clearly the leader and has the Cavs playing decent basketball.
Shaq, with the No. 1 pick in rookie/sophomore game during All-Star weekend, has already come out and said he will select Blake Griffin.
Of course, Griffin will provide the fans with the highlight plays they came to see. However, Kyrie Irving will show why he deserved to be playing in the big game the following day.
Ryan Anderson
10 of 10Ryan Anderson has been playing some great basketball. He has really come out of nowhere this season, currently averaging 16 points and seven rebounds.
The numbers aren't too gaudy, but he has had some monster games this season and provides a much-needed deep threat at the 4-spot playing alongside Dwight Howard.
He has been the second-best player on the Magic this season and is a big reason they are winning, despite the Howard drama.
If Anderson continues to improve, I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing in the All-Star game later down the road.
You heard it here first.
