WWE Raw Rating Is In: How Did Last Night's Lackluster Show Draw?

Justin WatryJun 1, 2018

WWE Raw was okay last night. In my opinion, it was the weakest show in a long time. That being said, I still gave the show a B-. It was fine and passed two hours. For my full thoughts, click here!

Now, it is time to discuss the numbers!

For a reference point, last week drew a big 3.6 rating. The week prior drew a 3.2 rating, while three weeks ago drew a 3.0 rating. As you can see, ratings have been increasing on Monday night for weeks now!

The upward trend came to an end last night.

The first hour drew 4,800,000 viewers.

The second hour drew 4,438,000 viewers.

The official rating for WWE Raw was a rounded-up 3.3 rating.

My thought on this news:

It is down from last week, but I think WWE will take this number. I've given up on worrying about hour one compared to hour two. The final number wasn't anything like last week, but it is acceptable. However, higher ratings would still be nice to see in the next month or two!

This is going to be an "off" week for ratings all across television. Over 110 million viewers watched the Super Bowl Sunday night on NBC. Anything even associated with NBC or the NFL should see some nice numbers this week. That is just how it works each year.

Thus, I am not sure how much stock I can put into the next seven days worth of ratings.

WWE is definitely tied to the NBC family, but I can't see much of the Super Bowl rating affecting WWE Raw. I could give it a little credit but not a lot.

Other than that, Raw was heavily teased last week with Undertaker returning. That was the big draw for this week. Would he appear again? What would Triple H do? How would this story evolve?

I doubt anybody was expecting Taker to show up again. I know I didn't. He should not be on Raw for at least another two weeks. With Shawn Michaels on Raw next week, WWE has another show to "stall" Undertaker being on WWE TV.

I can't really give much credit to any other story on Raw right now. This feud drove the numbers last week. They helped last night, and is already teased for next week as well!

Yes, Chris Jericho and CM Punk are beginning their feud. Yes, John Cena and Kane are continuing their feud. However, none of that has been made to be "must see" yet.

Everything with Undertaker, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels is!

As for Smackdown, they continue to perform well. Last week drew a 2.2 rating with just about 3.2 million viewers. Remember folks! This is a taped show on a Friday night with far less star power.

The Blue Brand brings it each and every week. Not live. Spoilers everywhere! No Cena, Triple H, Undertaker, Jericho, Kane, etc. etc. Just a quality show week in and week out...
