Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Boxing Stars Talk on Phone About Possible May 5 Fight
Given what has gone on between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao over the last couple weeks, perhaps what they need to do is just have a nice talk.
Apparently, Mayweather thought the very same thing.
According to ESPN.com's Dan Rafael, Mayweather talked to Pac-Man over the phone on Wednesday night. The phone call was confirmed by Leonard Ellerbe, one of Mayweather's advisers, who said simply, "They spoke."

It's easy to presume that the two fighters talked about the oft-dreamed-of superfight between the two of them, which Mayweather has been trying to arrange for May 5.
Pac-Man confirmed to a Filipino TV network that the two did indeed talk about a potential bout, specifically about a 50-50 purse split.
Mayweather first called Pac-Man out to fight on May 5 with this tweet on Jan. 10:
Since then, the two camps have been frantically trying to arrange something, but Pac-Man's promoter, Bob Arum, put things in doubt when he proposed a short list of terms that called for a fight in late May rather than on May 5.
The trouble is that Mayweather is due to report to prison on June 1, and he noted in a recent tweet that he can't do anything other than May 5.
Considering that this fight can't be made without Arum's final say, the fact that Mayweather and Pacquiao spoke on the phone really doesn't mean much. It's certainly surprising, but it should not be taken as a sign that this fight is about to get the green light.
In the meantime, the clock is ticking. The month of May is fast approaching, and something is going to need to happen soon for it to bring a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao superfight.
