Johnny Knox was the victim of a nasty collision with Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove. Knox had just fumbled after making a reception for a first down. He lost the ball, and as he dove to recover, Hargrove leaped in and bent Knox back in an awkward motion.
Boo birds quickly turned to concern as Knox didn't immediately spring to his feet after the scrum on the ground to recover the fumble.
The Bears have been victimized by mishaps early on in the game. Even with the great field position the fumble provided, the defense held. This stance was subsequently undercut by a leverage penalty against Corey Graham during the field goal attempt by the Seahawks. It gave Seattle a first down, and Marshawn Lynch punched it in for a TD.
As much as I hate to see anyone get hurt, Bears backup QB was depending on Knox far too often in big situations. He was virtually ignoring the Bears top receiver, Earl Bennett.
It would seem that Hanie will now be forced to look for Bennett, as well as tight end Kellen Davis.
That said, hopefully Knox is okay. The injury seemed as though it could be serious, as Knox was carted off.
He can be seen moving his upper extremities and conscious in the linked video, as he is being carted off the field.
