WWE TLC 2011: Will the Kevin Nash/Triple H Ladder Match Be Good for Business?

So, Kevin Nash has been booked to wrestle Triple H in a ladder match at WWE’s upcoming Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view.

Hey, they laughed when Ric Flair versus Edge in a ladder match was announced, too, and that one turned out pretty well.

We all expected that at some point the showdown between these two former best friends was going to happen.  After all, it has been brewing for a while.

From nearly the first moment that Triple H was given the task of Chief Operating Officer and the responsibilities of running Monday Night Raw, his authority was questioned by two men: CM Punk and Kevin Nash.

Punk’s constant defiance of anyone associated with WWE upper management created some serious heat between he and Hunter.  Triple H was portrayed as the executive who was only interested in doing what was right for WWE.  Punk was presented as the revolutionary who wanted to provoke real change in the company.

After several weeks of constant confrontations, Punk and Hunter finally faced off, and despite Punk’s renewed run, Triple H came out the winner.

Since then, Punk and Hunter have played nice and now all seems to be well for them.

For Hunter and Kevin Nash, however, well, that’s a different story.

Nash’s rollercoaster ride since returning to WWE took many unpredictable twists and turns, thanks to his old running buddy.  Triple H, in his role as C.O.O, would not play favorites and gave Nash no special treatment.

Nash believed that CM Punk had no place in WWE, and no right to disrespect him in any way.  He was going to do whatever it took to make an example out of Punk, and prove to Hunter that his way of doing business was still the best way.

Of course, that match did not happen and Nash was left just sort of sitting there waiting.

I for one did not really see where they were going with Kevin Nash.  The biggest questions surrounding him were the same ones that I have had about any Superstar that WWE has ever brought back to the fold.

Why was he there?  What purpose was his presence serving?  More importantly, how was he going to contribute to the company that made him famous?

One vicious sledgehammer attack later, and the questions were answered.

Evidently, Nash came back for one last hurrah, one more run under the bright lights.  And what better way to go out than for Big Sexy to face The Game, the man that has been his best friend for all of these years?

So, now we come to the major showdown between Nash and Hunter, and yeah, it’s a ladder match.
I’m suddenly reminded of Stone Cold’s ECW promo describing a Geritol on a pole match.

Okay, so, maybe I’m exaggerating.  This is not WCW we’re talking about here, Nash and Hunter are not exactly Roddy Piper and Hollywood Hogan.  Why rip on this match before it even takes place?

The fact is, both of these guys have had their fair share of main event matches and are old pros at getting it done on a high level.  But, do they still have it in them to do it again?

Will this match go down as a classic bout, or as a huge disaster?

The fact is the last time we saw Triple H in the ring, he was physically not himself.  He’s had some time off camera in the past month, so perhaps that has changed somewhat.  For Nash, he actually looks good for a man his age and in the ring, well, he was never Ricky Steamboat anyway, so maybe he will be able to carry his weight in this match.

But, it’s a ladder match.  I just can’t get away from that one.  

Granted, there’s a sledgehammer hanging above that ladder and the first man who grabs it can use it on his opponent.  That’s incentive enough to watch the two former Kliq members get it on.  

But, will it be enough?  Are you looking forward to this match?

The Kevin Nash Triple H feud thus far has been one of continuing controversy.  Every spot and confrontation has only led to more heat between these two.  Will the ladder match be just another chapter in their ongoing rivalry, or will it close the book on their feud?
