WWE Rumor: Mark Henry Possibly Being Turned Face "Soon?"

T. SchaeferNov 27, 2011

"If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe." — Beverly Crusher, Star Trek: The Next Generation "Remember Me"

Don't shoot the messenger.

There are times in life where we must consider the possibility of the highly improbable. My favorite example is the 2+2=5 argument. While this is technically feasible by taking 2 and 5 as "any round number that rounds to 2 or 5," more often than not, we simply want to smack the person saying it because it violates everyday logic.

With that said, LordsofPain, via WrestlingObserver, noted recently that there has been discussion of turning SmackDown's Mark Henry into a babyface. They noted:

"

"WWE officials have been discussing turning World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry babyface again. Sources expect the turn to happen sooner than later."

"

For the record, Henry turned into a dominating heel earlier this year and has torn through everyone in front of him. Sheamus, Orton, Big Show, Kane and Great Khali have all fallen the World's Strongest Man. He's stepped up his game on multiple levels and held the World Heavyweight Championship for a number of months now.

However, there is something to consider. Henry gets face heat once in a while. Occasionally, he gets solid cheer and is treated by the bookers as a face.

Recall at Vengeance that, after the ring implosion, Big Show was carted out while Henry refused assistance and left under his own power. Normally, the inverse is true where the face leaves under his own power to prove his heart.

With all that said, Henry has been getting over in his current gimmick. Why would the SmackDown bookers consider such a thing? Honestly, it's tough to swallow, but it's not entirely unfounded.

One thing they seem to be incredibly sold on is Wade Barrett. The Englishman has defeated Orton twice in their feud thus far. Barrett went so far as to get a clean win over "The Viper" at Survivor Series. Who was the last person to pin Orton cleanly? Mark Henry.

A Barrett/Orton feud has possibilities. Though how they would turn Henry, who hasn't exactly been the most sympathetic character, remains to be seen.

One more possibility might be a Sheamus heel turn. Sheamus has been displaying more of a temper as of late and it has actually cost him in the ring twice. This remains less likely, as Sheamus technically turned face after Henry went heel and is getting some measure of a fan response.

All these things considered, this one should be considered a stretch, but not beyond the realm of possibility. If it happens remains to be seen.

Again folks, don't shoot the messenger.
