Heisman Trophy Watch: Trent Richardson vs. Andrew Luck to Be Settled in Week 13
Auburn vs. Alabama.
Stanford vs. Notre Dame.
The Iron Bowl and Legends Trophy will fittingly decide this year's race for the Heisman.
Andrew Luck and Trent Richardson, two of the top five pro prospects in the entire country, have been at the head of class for almost the entire season.
This weekend, Thanksgiving weekend, four of the sports most storied programs will decide who strikes the Heisman pose.
The four schools combined have yielded 12 Heisman Trophy winners.
This year that number will increase by one barring anything completely absurd.
The Iron Bowl will be up first on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST.
Trent Richardson has rushed for 1,380 yards and 20 touchdowns on the season. He has also added 26 catches for 322 yards and two more touchdowns.
Considering that Tide have a first-time starter at quarterback and play in the nation's most respect conference, the Richardson's production is astounding.
As things stand now, the trophy is his to lose.
Andrew Luck isn't far behind, though.
The No. 1 prospect in the country two years running has lost only one game in each of the last two years. Both losses have come at the hands of Oregon, but it is the Cardinal who have the inside track to the first Pac-12 Championship over the Ducks courtesy of USC's upset of Oregon this past weekend.
Luck is completing 70-percent of his passes, has thrown 31 touchdowns to eight interceptions and has carried the Cardinal.
This week they'll battle recently-ranked Notre Dame on the farm in a battle for the Legends Trophy.
There is a chance that these two players will be playing in their respective conference title games, but both the SEC East and Pac-12 South are not on par with their peers' division in terms of talent.
This week, when two great rivalries are renewed for another chapter, we will find the real 2011 Heisman Trophy winner.
