Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles step in against each other on the UFC 139 fight card with the winner possibly facing UFC bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz, sometime next year.
First, though, this fight has to pass and both fighters really bring a scrappy mentality to the cage tonight.
Faber is the more widely known fighter, and even coming off of a loss to Cruz at UFC 132, he is still considered close to a rematch with Cruz for what could be an epic trilogy fight.
Faber's great ground background gives him the edge if the fight goes to the ground. Faber has some slick wrestling and trains with some of the best wrestling smaller guys the UFC owns.
On top of his wrestling, throw in a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and you have one masterful ground artist.
Standing, though, I'm more inclined to give the edge to Bowles. Bowles possesses some knockout power and has some superb striking skills in general.
The funny thing is in this fight, although Faber's ground game might look more spectacular, you can't overlook Bowles.
Bowles brings a lot to this fight and tonight the pace this fight will be at will be astounding. Both fighters possess the cardio and toughness to make this fight a three-round war.
In the end, though, I think Faber will be able to take Bowles down enough to get ahead on the scorecards.
Although again, I wouldn't sleep on Bowles.
Urijah Faber By Unanimous Decision
