Numbers do lie.

In this age of sports, where acronyms like PER, OBP, and QBR take precedent over the eye test, this Tim Tebow story is a bit more than just a head scratcher or neck turner. No, we're in a new, calculated age, where a throwing motion like his and a 4-1 record plays with people's minds.

But this moment in history, this thing about being Tebow'd is not really about just Tim Tebow. The Denver Broncos turning into must-see TV is perhaps the only way that the entire sports world, fans and analysts alike, can get a dose of reality from reality.

This decade, sports fans have been moving in a scary direction, one in which game days mean less and seasons that end without bling are marginalized. Players' reputations are based on Stanley Cup finals, Super Bowl performances, and NBA Finals credentials.

Yes, there's a LeBron piece to this article, and no, it's not a dig about how a man with so much less skill has the clutch gene LeBron is missing. It's more about how both Tebow and LeBron simply mesmerize, and though they both may never win rings, as fans, we should appreciate the uniqueness with which both approached their respective sport.

What happened to the appreciation for the 16, 82, or 161? I don't care if Tebow will never win a ring, just like the generations before us didn't care that Doug Flutie didn't.

In essence, numbers can't replace the experience, they can't describe how you felt when you saw Tebow lead his team down the field and into the end zone. All they can do is provide a summary that is somewhat incomplete. Therefore it is time we stop our complacence and watch the games.
