NBA Draft 2012: Top 50 College Basketball Prospects Report Card Grades in Week 2
The second week of college basketball action proved to be exciting for both these NBA prospects and fans alike as a lot of high-quality matchups were played throughout the week in the early-season tournaments.
We saw most of the top teams continue their dominance, highlighted by two marquee matchups on November 15 when Kentucky took down Kansas and Ohio State edged out Florida.
There wasn't much movement at the top of my big board, but there are four new additions to it thanks to a pair of talented freshmen and two seniors eager to end their collegiate careers on a high note.
You can check out last week's edition here, but read on to see how the top 50 NBA prospects fared in the second week of the NCAA season, complete with grades for each and every player.

50. Royce White (Previous Ranking: Unranked)

11/15 against Drake (74-65 loss): 21 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, 5 turnovers
11/20 against Western Carolina (92-60 win): 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 5 turnovers
In Week 2, the freshman continued to dominate his less-than-stellar opponents and is averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds this far into the young season. Royce White is simply performing too well to keep off the board this week. If he can cut down on the turnovers, he'll move up even higher.
Grade: A
49. Cody Zeller (Previous Ranking: Unranked)
3 of 51School: Indiana
Year: Freshman
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 15.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists

The younger brother of North Carolina's Tyler Zeller (who you will see later), this freshman has taken the NCAA by storm and appears to be getting better each and every game. By the end of the season, Cody could be one of the more dominant players in the Big Ten.
Grade: A+
48. Josiah Turner (Previous Ranking: No. 42)
4 of 51School: Arizona
Year: Freshman
Position: Point guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 5.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists
11/17 against St. John's (81-72 win): 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 4 turnovers
11/18 against Mississippi State (67-57 loss): 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists
Josiah Turner responded from being benched for an entire game with a poor performance against St. John's. The talented freshman point guard shot well from the field but turned the ball over four times in only 19 minutes of action. He was much more careful against Mississippi State, but didn't shoot particularly well.
He'll get there, just not yet.
Grade: B-
47. Alex Young (Previous Ranking: No. 40)
5 of 51School: IUPUI
Year: Senior
Position: Shooting guard and small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 16.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists

11/20 against Eastern Michigan (66-64 loss): 21 points, 14 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 turnovers
Alex Young might have scored a lot this week, but he took a ton of shots to do so. Against Arkansas-Little Rock, the swingman hoisted up 14 attempts, hitting on only six, and then topped that with 22 shots from the field against Eastern Michigan. He may be talented, but he needs to be more efficient.
Grade: C+
46. Robert Sacre (Previous Ranking: Unranked)
6 of 51School: Gonzaga
Year: Senior
Position: Center
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 17.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists

11/19 against Hawaii (73-54 win): 16 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 block, 1 turnover
It's becoming impossible to deny just how good this senior big man for the Gonzaga Bulldogs is. Robert Sacre has been a double-double machine this season and has played very efficiently on the offensive end of the court, relying on free throws to rack up the points.
Grade: A+
45. Andrew Nicholson (Previous Ranking: No. 49)
7 of 51School: St. Bonaventure
Year: Senior
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists
11/18 against Cleveland State (67-64 loss): 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks, 2 turnovers
Even though he had to deal with foul trouble, Andrew Nicholson almost managed to help the Bonnies beat Cleveland State but fell just short. He filled up the stat sheet and shot efficiently from the field (9-for-14).
Grade: B+
44. John Jenkins (Previous Ranking: No. 47)
8 of 51School: Vanderbilt
Year: Junior
Position: Shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 23.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists
11/15 against Bucknell (80-68 win): Did not play (ankle injury)
11/19 against N.C. State (86-79 win): 28 points, 2 rebounds. 2 steals, 1 block, 2 turnovers
John Jenkins returned from an ankle that sidelined him for a couple of games with an explosion of points, dropping 28 against the Wolfpack. Anytime you shoot 10-for-16 from the field, you've had a good game.
Grade: A+
43. Chris Johnson (Previous Ranking: No. 35)
9 of 51School: Dayton
Year: Senior
Position: Shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 11.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists
11/15 against Miami (Ohio) (72-67 loss): 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block, 2 turnovers
11/19 against UNC-Wilmington (74-49 win): 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 turnovers
Chris Johnson didn't play particularly well in his first game of the week even though he was on the court for only 17 minutes thanks to some early foul trouble. He bounced back against UNC-Wilmington, but then again, it was UNC-Wilmington.
Grade: C+
42. Darius Johnson-Odom (Previous Ranking: Unranked)
10 of 51School: Marquette
Year: Senior
Position: Guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 20.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists
11/14 against Norfolk State (99-68 win): 24 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 3 turnovers
11/18 against Winthrop (95-73 win): 20 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals
11/20 against Mississippi (96-66 win): 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 turnovers
The highest ranked of the players who failed to make the big board last week, Darius Johnson-Odom continues to score at a remarkable pace, topping the 20-point milestone in all three of his games this past week. But this senior guard for Marquette has been more than just a scorer; he's contributed across the board and provided veteran leadership for a very good team.
Grade: A+
41. Seth Curry (Previous Ranking: No. 50)
11 of 51School: Duke
Year: Junior
Position: Point guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 15.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists
11/15 against Michigan State (74-69 win): 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 3 turnovers
11/18 against Davidson (82-69 win): 17 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 turnover
Seth Curry has been sensational for the Duke Blue Devils so far this year. This week was no exception as the younger brother of Stephen Curry continued to make a name for himself. Perhaps the most impressive stat thus far for the younger Curry is his 55.6 percent shooting from the field this past week.
Grade: A+
40. Jeffery Taylor (Previous Ranking: No. 43)
12 of 51School: Vanderbilt
Year: Senior
Position: Shooting guard and small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 20.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists
11/15 against Bucknell (80-68 win): 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists
11/19 against N.C. State (86-79 win): 17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 4 turnovers
Jeffery Taylor just continued what he's been doing so far this season by filling up the stat sheet in a multitude of ways. He was a crucial element of success for the Commodores in both of their wins against fairly high quality opponents this week.
Grade: A
39. William Buford (Previous Ranking: No. 37)
13 of 51School: Ohio State
Year: Senior
Position: Shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists
11/15 against Florida (81-74 win): 21 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block
11/18 against Jackson State (85-41 win): 11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 turnovers
William Buford scored plenty of points in a victory against the Florida Gators, but he was quite unimpressive against Jackson State even though his Buckeyes blew out the opposition. Four turnovers in 23 minutes of action is not what the Buckeyes are looking for.
Grade: B
38. Arnett Moultrie (Previous Ranking: No. 44)
14 of 51School: Mississippi State
Year: Senior
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 15.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists
11/17 against Texas A&M (69-60 win): 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, 3 turnovers
11/18 against Arizona (67-57 win): 19 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist
After a pretty decent all-around performance against Texas A&M, Arnett Moultrie put up an impressive double-double in an upset win of the Arizona Wildcats on his 21st birthday. A turnover-less stat-line was a nice birthday present.
Grade: A-
37. Festus Ezeli (Previous Ranking: No. 36)
15 of 51School: Vanderbilt
Year: Senior
Position: Center
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 0.0 points, 0.0 rebounds, 0.0 assists
11/15 against Bucknell (80-68 win): Did not play (suspension)
11/19 against N.C. State (86-79 win): Did not play (suspension)
Grade: Incomplete
36. Tu Holloway (Previous Ranking: No. 38)
16 of 51School: Xavier
Year: Junior
Position: Point guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists
11/15 against IPFW (86-63 win): 24 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 2 turnovers
11/18 against Miami (Ohio) (66-60 win): 9 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, 1 turnover
Tu Holloway got his senior season started in terrific fashion with a great all-around performance against IPFW, but he struggled from the field in his second contest. Holloway shot just three-for-12 from the field against the Redhawks but made up for his lack of accuracy in a multitude of other ways.
Grade: B+
35. JaMychal Green (Previous Ranking: No. 34)
17 of 51School: Alabama
Year: Senior
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists
11/14 against Oakland (74-57 win): 18 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks
11/17 against Maryland (62-42 win): 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 turnovers
11/18 against Wichita State (70-60 win): 15 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks, 3 turnovers
11/20 against Purdue (65-56 win): 14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover
JaMychal Green strung together one good performance after another during a busy week in Puerto Rico, a week that ended in a championship. As scary as this may be, the big man appears to have added a reliable mid-range jumper to his already impressive arsenal.
Grade: A
34. C.J. Leslie (Previous Ranking: No. 28)
18 of 51School: N.C. State
Year: Sophomore
Position: Small forward and power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists
11/16 against Princeton (60-58 win): Did not play (suspension)
11/19 against Vanderbilt (86-79 loss): 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 3 turnovers
C.J. Leslie returned from suspension to begin his season a bit late against the Vanderbilt Commodores. His play alone wasn't enough to lift N.C. State to victory, but his line looks pretty nice, especially the part where he shot 7-for-9 from the field.
Grade: A-
33. Shabazz Napier (Previous Ranking: No. 39)
19 of 51School: Connecticut
Year: Sophomore
Position: Point guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists
11/14 against Wagner (78-66 win): 21 points, 1 rebound, 1 assists, 3 steals, 6 turnover
11/17 against Maine (80-60 win): 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal
11/20 against Coppin State (87-70 win): 22 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 turnover
I was ready to dock Shabazz Napier for his six-turnover performance against Wagner, but then he finished the week off with one of the most dominant individual performances we'll see in college basketball this year. When you record an efficient triple-double, you're moving up.
Grade: A
32. Ray McCallum (Previous Ranking: No. 32)
20 of 51School: Detroit
Year: Sophomore
Position: Point guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 17.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists
11/14 against Notre Dame (59-53 loss): 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
11/18 against Concordia (113-68 win): 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals
Don't read too much into the Concordia game because Detroit won't play a team that bad again even though they're in the Horizon League. But against Notre Dame, even in a loss, McCallum looked good.
Grade: A
31. Mouphtaou Yarou (Previous Ranking: No. 30)
21 of 51School: Villanova
Year: Junior
Position: Power forward and center
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 17.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists
11/15 against La Salle (76-69 win): 10 points, 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 4 turnovers
11/18 against Delaware (79-69 win): 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 turnovers
Mouphtaou Yarou has put up some impressive numbers so far during the still-young college basketball season. I'd like to see him play better defense before I bump him up any higher than this though.
Grade: A-
30. Mason Plumlee (Previous Ranking: No. 27)
22 of 51School: Duke
Year: Junior
Position: Power forward and center
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 12.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists
11/15 against Michigan State (74-69 win): 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 2 turnovers
11/18 against Davidson (82-69 win): 16 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
Mason Plumlee struggled through the Michigan State game even though his Blue Devils came out on top. He attempted just three field goals and hit on only half of his 10 free throw shots. But the big man bounced back in a big way against Davidson by posting a dominant double-double.
Grade: B
29. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Previous Ranking: No. 25)
23 of 51School: Georgia
Year: Freshman
Position: Shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 13.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists
11/16 against South Dakota State (72-61 win): 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 turnover
In his one game of the week, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope played quite well on both ends of the ball. He was a bit inefficient as a shooter but still managed to carry the Georgia offense at times during Nate Wolters and the Jackrabbits.
Grade: B+
28. Maalik Wayns (Previous Ranking: No. 31)
24 of 51School: Villanova
Year: Junior
Position: Point guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 19.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists
11/15 against La Salle (76-69 win): 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 turnovers
11/18 against Delaware (79-69 win): 21 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 3 turnovers
Maalik Wayns has been an incredible scorer so far this year but his contributions don't just stop there. Unfortunately, Wayns hasn't been able to help his team dominate as much as they should as they needed overtime to take down La Salle.
Grade: A+
27. Thomas Robinson (Previous Ranking: No. 29)
25 of 51School: Kansas
Year: Junior
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists
11/15 against Kentucky (75-65 loss): 11 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 2 turnovers
Thomas Robinson may not have been able to carry the Jayhawks to an upset victory against Kentucky and his 5-for-12 shooting performance wasn't too impressive, but Robinson just looked like a stud out on the court. He contributed across the board and looked like a future NBA player.
Grade: A-
26. Kris Joseph (Previous Ranking: No. 26)
26 of 51School: Syracuse
Year: Senior
Position: Small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 13.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists
11/14 against Manhattan (92-56 win): 15 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block
11/15 against Albany (98-74 win): 19 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
11/19 against Colgate (92-47 win): 4 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 2 turnovers
Kris Joseph only played 13 minutes in a blowout win against Colgate, so don't look at that stat line for too long. Throughout the rest of the week, the veteran small forward was instrumental in his team's success.
Grade: A-
25. Le'Bryan Nash (Previous Ranking: No. 24)
27 of 51School: Oklahoma State
Year: Freshman
Position: Small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 12.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists
11/15 against Arkansas Pine Bluff (73-46 win): 5 points, 5 rebounds, 3 turnovers
11/16 against Texas San Antonio (90-85 win): 18 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 2 turnovers
With increased minutes comes increased productivity for Le'Bryan Nash. After a lackluster performance against Arkansas Pine Bluff, the freshman exploded in his second game of the week.
Grade: B+
24. Trevor Mbakwe (Previous Ranking: No. 33)
28 of 51School: Minnesota
Year: Senior
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists
11/14 against South Dakota State (71-55 win): 17 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 blocks, 2 steals. 3 turnovers
11/17 against Fairfield (67-57 win): 20 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 block, 2 steals, 4 turnovers
I have been incredibly impressed by Trevor Mbakwe so far this season. He's going to be a household name by the end of the year. The one knock on Mbakwe going into the year was that he wasn't a great free throw shooter, but even that may have changed after he hit 16 of his 18 attempts against the Fairfield Stags to remedy a poor shooting performance from the field.
Grade: A+
23. Tony Wroten (Previous Ranking: No. 23)
29 of 51School: Washington
Year: Freshman
Position: Point guard and shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists
11/14 against Portland (93-63 win): 11 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, 2 turnovers
11/20 against Saint Louis (77-64 loss): 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 5 turnovers
Tony Wroten may have been hot from downtown against Saint Louis, but he turned the ball over way too often and was in foul trouble all game, eventually fouling out in the loss. I'm willing to give the talented freshman a pass here though because the Billikens are vastly underrated and the game was played at 9:00 AM local time.
Grade: B+
22. Adonis Thomas (Previous Ranking: No. 21)
30 of 51School: Memphis
Year: Freshman
Position: Small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 12.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.0 assists
11/15 against Belmont (97-81 win): 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block, 1 turnover
Adonis Thomas was impressive during his first (and so far only) collegiate game against a tough Belmont Bruins team. He made five of his nine shots in the contest and contributed on both ends of the court while making smart decisions throughout the 20 minutes he spent on the court.
Grade: A
21. Patric Young (Previous Ranking: No. 20)
31 of 51School: Florida
Year: Sophomore
Position: Center and power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 11.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists
11/15 against Ohio State (81-74 loss): 14 points, 12 rebounds, 1 block, 1 turnover
11/17 against North Florida (91-55 win): 7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 3 turnovers
Patric Young is proving that he has the potential to add an NBA-level set of skills to back up his NBA-level body. After banging around successfully with Jared Sullinger, Young followed up a good performance in a loss with a decent one in limited minutes during a blowout.

20. Khris Middleton (Previous Ranking: No. 18)
32 of 51School: Texas A&M
Year: Junior
Position: Small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists
11/17 against Mississippi State (69-60 loss): Did not play (knee injury)
11/18 against St. John's (58-57 win): Did not play (knee injury)
Grade: Incomplete
19. Doron Lamb (Previous Ranking: No. 22)
33 of 51School: Kentucky
Year: Sophomore
Position: Shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists
11/15 against Kansas (75-65 win): 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 turnover
11/19 against Penn State (85-47 win): 26 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover
11/20 against Old Dominion (62-52 win): 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 turnover
Doron Lamb can't do too much wrong right now. He's been the Wildcats' most consistent player so far and absolutely took over the game against Penn State, who I feel compelled to remind everyone, is not a bad team despite the beating they took at the hands of Kentucky. His follow-up performance against the Monarchs wasn't great, but he was one of the few Wildcats who actually managed to hold onto the ball, committing just one turnover out of the team's 20.
Grade: A
18. Terrence Ross (Previous Ranking: No. 19)
34 of 51School: Washington
Year: Sophomore
Position: Shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists
11/14 against Portland (93-63 win): 24 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
11/20 against Saint Louis (77-64 loss): 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers
Terrence Ross put up two great performances in his second week as a sophomore. In a blowout win against Portland, Ross carried the scoring load for his team, making nine of his 13 field goal attempts. Then against Saint Louis (a team that is drastically underrated), Ross threw up a double-double while once again limiting his turnovers.
Grade: A
17. Myck Kabongo (Previous Ranking: No. 14)
35 of 51School: Texas
Year: Freshman
Position: Point guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists
11/15 against Rhode Island (100-90 win): 18 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, 4 turnovers
11/19 against Oregon State (100-95 loss): 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, 5 turnovers
Myck Kabongo might be able to make plays with both his shot and his passes, but he's been way too careless with the ball this week. His five turnovers were a large part of the Longhorns' Saturday night loss to Oregon State in overtime.
Grade: B-
16. Kendall Marshall (Previous Ranking: No. 15)
36 of 51School: North Carolina
Year: Sophomore
Position: Point guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 4.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 9.3 assists
11/20 against Mississippi Valley State (101-75 win): 1 point, 1 rebound, 8 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
Kendall Marshall hit only one of his two free throw attempts and missed all four attempts from the field, but that's okay because he's really not asked to be a scorer for the Tar Heels. Once more, the sophomore point guard hit his open teammates early and often in a dominating win.
Grade: B+
15. Tyler Zeller (Previous Ranking: No. 17)
37 of 51School: North Carolina
Year: Senior
Position: Power forward and center
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 17.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 0.3 assists
11/20 against Mississippi Valley State (101-75 win): 16 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, 3 blocks, 1 turnover
Tyler Zeller had another efficient shooting performance, scoring 16 points off of 8-for-15 shooting. He recorded his first double-double of the year but contributed in every way possible for the Tar Heels in the team's only game of the week.
Grade: A+
14. Terrence Jones (Previous Ranking: No. 16)
38 of 51School: Kentucky
Year: Sophomore
Position: Small forward and power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 11.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists
11/15 against Kansas (75-65 win): 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
11/19 against Penn State (85-47 win): 15 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover
11/20 against Old Dominion (62-52 win): 6 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 blocks, 2 turnovers
Terrence Jones, as surprising as this may be since he's just a sophomore, is the veteran leader of a young Kentucky team. He's been great in that role so far and completely filled the stat-sheet over and over.
Grade: B+
13. Perry Jones (Previous Ranking: No. 11)
39 of 51School: Baylor
Year: Sophomore
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 0.0 points, 0.0 rebounds, 0.0 assists
11/15 against San Diego State: Did not play (suspension)
Grade: Incomplete
12. Brad Beal (Previous Ranking: No. 13)
40 of 51School: Florida
Year: Freshman
Position: Shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists
11/15 against Ohio State (81-74 loss): 17 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal, 5 turnovers
11/7 against North Florida (91-55 win): 12 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals
Brad Beal was born to score the basketball. He's been absolutely unbelievable thus far in his freshman campaign and showed off his skills this week against both elite teams and non-elite teams.
Grade: A
11. Austin Rivers (Previous Ranking: No. 10)
41 of 51School: Duke
Year: Freshman
Position: Shooting guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 13.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 2. 5 assists
11/15 against Michigan State (74-69 win): 5 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
11/18 against Davidson (82-69 win): 17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 4 turnovers
Yes, Austin Rivers can make plays and create for himself. We've already realized that and then some. But he turns the ball over way too often and doesn't always make good decisions with his shots and passes.
Grade: B
10. James McAdoo (Previous Ranking: No. 8)
42 of 51School: North Carolina
Year: Freshman
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 6.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.3 assists
11/20 against Mississippi Valley State (101-75 win): 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 2 turnovers
A lot of James McAdoo's production came in garbage time after it was clear that North Carolina was going to blow out the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State. But regardless, it was nice to see the talented freshman get on the court and make things happen.
Grade: B
9. John Henson (Previous Ranking: No. 12)
43 of 51School: North Carolina
Year: Junior
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 16.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists
11/20 against Mississippi Valley State (101-75 win): 18 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, 1 turnover
John Henson wasn't exactly a terror for opponents with his shot-blocking ability this game, but he was remarkably productive across the board. Only turning over the ball once, Henson was clearly in a different class than the opposition as he threw up his second-straight double-double.
Grade: A
8. Marquis Teague (Previous Ranking: No. 5)
44 of 51School: Kentucky
Year: Freshman
Position: Point Guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 10.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists
11/15 against Kansas (75-65 win): 12 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 turnovers
11/19 against Penn State (85-47 win): 9 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal, 3 turnovers
11/20 against Old Dominion (62-62 win): 6 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, 2 steals, 6 turnovers
Marquis Teague has all the ability in the world, but he's still playing a little bit out of control at time. The 15 turnovers he added to the Wildcats' totals in just one week aren't acceptable even if he did shoot fairly efficiently and create a lot of chances. Teague makes plays, some good, some bad.
Grade: C+
7. Quincy Miller (Previous Ranking: No. 9)
45 of 51School: Baylor
Year: Freshman
Position: Small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 18.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists
11/15 against San Diego State (77-67 win): 20 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, 3 turnovers
Whatever expectations you had about Quincy Miller, throw them out the window and come up with some higher ones. He's special.
Grade: A+
6. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Previous Ranking: No. 7)
46 of 51School: Kentucky
Year: Freshman
Position: Small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 12.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists
11/15 against Kansas (75-65 win): 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, 1 steal, 5 turnovers
11/19 against Penn State (85-47 win): 9 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block, 3 steals, 1 turnover
11/20 against Old Dominion (62-62 win): 13 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 5 turnovers
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist can simply do it all, as he proved in an incredible second half against the Kansas Jayhawks. MKG didn't stand out this week, but he was still impressive.
Grade: B+
5. Andre Drummond (Previous Ranking: No. 4)
47 of 51School: Connecticut
Year: Freshman
Position: Power forward and center
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 5.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists
11/14 against Wagner (78-66 win): 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 turnovers
11/17 against Maine (80-60 win): 11 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 steal, 2 turnovers
11/20 against Coppin State (87-70 win): 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 turnover
His ridiculous double-double with four blocks against Maine showed that he has the talent to dominate at the college level, but Andre Drummond has been plagued by three things so far this season: foul trouble, limited minutes and the face mask. He's going to improve but I can no longer deny just how slow he's started the season.
Grade: C+
4. Jeremy Lamb (Previous Ranking: No. 6)
48 of 51School: Connecticut
Year: Sophomore
Position: Shooting Guard
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 22.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists
11/14 against Wagner (78-66 win): 20 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 3 turnovers
11/17 against Maine (80-60 win): 16 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 turnovers
11/20 against Coppin State (87-70 win): 25 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 3 blocks, 1 turnover
Jeremy Lamb has been the epitome of dominance so far this season for the Connecticut Huskies. If there's anyone that can make people forget about Kemba Walker, it's Lamb. His across the board greatness continued into Week 2 as he even put up 25 points against Coppin State on a sprained ankle.
Grade: A+
3. Jared Sullinger: (Previous Ranking: No. 3)
49 of 51School: Ohio State
Year: Sophomore
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 18.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists
11/15 against Florida (81-74 win): 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 turnover
11/18 against Jackson State (85-41 win): 20 points, 11 rebounds, 1, assist, 1 block, 1 steal, 1 turnover
Jared Sullinger was a key player in a huge early season win against the Florida Gators, matching up well against a physical specimen in the form of Patric Young. Against far less impressive competition, Jackson State, Sullinger put up another great stat line.
Grade: A
2. Harrison Barnes (Previous Ranking: No. 2)
50 of 51School: North Carolina
Year: Sophomore
Position: Small forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 17.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists
11/20 against Mississippi Valley State (101-75 win): 18 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 turnovers
In his one game of the week, Harris Barnes tied for the scoring lead in the game with 18 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field. He couldn't hit from deep or from the free throw line, but the preseason All-American continues to live up to the hype.
Grade: A
1. Anthony Davis (Previous Ranking: No. 1)
51 of 51School: Kentucky
Year: Freshman
Position: Power forward
2011-2012 Per-Game Stats: 12.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists
11/15 against Kansas (75-65 win): 14 points, 6 rebounds, 7 blocks, 2 steals, 3 turnovers
11/19 against Penn State (85-47 win): 3 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks
11/20 against Old Dominion (62-52 win): 11 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 3 blocks, 3 turnovers
Anthony Davis may not have been completely dominant during his second game of the week, but he didn't need to be in a blowout victory against the Nittany Lions. I'm much more interested in the fact that he was a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the court against the 11th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks and the Old Dominion Monarchs.
