The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the Miami Marlins have made a contract offer to Mark Buehrle.

Miami is not the right team for Buehrle to sign with as he nears the end of his illustrious MLB career.

Buehrle has accomplished just about everything a pitcher can in the MLB.  He's won a World Series championship, pitched a perfect game and a no-hitter.

If money is not the determining factor for Buehrle, there are plenty of other organizations that would make much more sense for him to sign.

Buehrle Is Not a Long-Term Solution; Marlins Need Young Talent

Mark Buehrle's MLB career is coming to an end, which means he's not going to be a long-term solution for a team like the Miami Marlins who are rebuilding the organization from the ground up, literally.

The Marlins would be better off signing a pitcher with more of a future ahead of him, and not one like Buehrle who only has one more contract left in his playing days before he, most likely, hangs his cleats up and calls it a career.

Sure, Buehrle could probably add a few more wins to the Marlins record in the near future, but how far will that take the organization?

Buehrle's Talents Are More Useful Elsewhere

Mark Buehrle would be wasting his time and talents if he signs a contract with the Miami Marlins.

The Marlins have reportedly offered deals to Jose Reyes and Albert Pujols, but I see it as highly unlikely for either of these players to sign with the Marlins considering the lack of success the organization has had since winning the 2003 World Series.

Buehrle could sign with another team and not have to be the backbone of the pitching staff, like he would have to be in Miami. There would be less pressure on him to perform at a high level of success if he were to sign with a team that wasn't completely rebuilding its organization.

Because of how much Buehrle has accomplished, he doesn't need to deal with the added pressures and stress he'd be subjected to being one of the stars on the Miami Marlins.

Buehrle Is a Fan Favorite; Marlins Have No Fans

If it weren't for Paul Konerko, Mark Buehrle would be the face of the Chicago White Sox organization. The fans love him, and so do his teammates.

What's the point of having such a great relationship with your fans like Buehrle does if he signs with the Miami Marlins, who can't fill their stadium for the team's most important games? Even though there haven't been too many important games for the Marlins recently.

Besides the fact that Ozzie Guillen will be managing the Marlins, I don't see too many other reasons why Buehrle would be smiling in Miami.

Buehrle Should End Career with a Winning Team

Mark Buehrle should end his MLB career with a winning team, and that doesn't necessarily mean he has to win a World Series championship.

There's no sense in Buehrle taking a risk to sign with a last-place Miami Marlins team for his final contract of his career. Buehrle can have a better time winning with another team.

It would make the most sense for Buehrle to sign with his hometown team, the St. Louis Cardinals. St. Louis has a bigger task at hand than signing Buehrle right now, and that's signing All-Star slugger Albert Pujols before another team does so.

Unless Buehrle is looking for a challenge to bring a losing team to the top, there's no logic behind him signing with the Miami Marlins. And if that's the case, he's in a perfect position to do so with the Chicago White Sox if they were to offer Buehrle a contract.
