WWE News: These Models Left the WWE for Greener Pastures, Is Kelly Kelly Next?

Alfred KonuwaNov 5, 2011

WWE Diva Kelly Kelly's star is rising quickly, as the former WWE Diva Champion just booked the cover of popular men's magazine Maxim.

Five years ago, this would have likely translated to the popular diva landing the once-annual cover of Playboy Magazine as part of the publication's working relationship with the WWE.

But in the TV-PG era for the sports entertainment conglomerate, Maxim is about as high-profile as it gets in terms of cover girls and may even be more mainstream.

Given the fact that Kelly Kelly started out as a model, not to mention her below-average work rate, the Maxim cover shoot could be the beginning of a rather lucrative transition into modeling for the 24-year-old Diva in a company that is no stranger to being spurned by its more popular female competitors.

Stacy Keibler used her WWE fame to transition into the mainstream media via ABC's popular Dancing with the Stars television show.

As a contestant on the show's second season, Keibler came within an eyelash of winning the entire competition, coming in third and never looking back.

Keibler has since left the WWE to pursue an acting career, landing gigs on NBC's Chuck and the George Lopez Show.

She is now the most current Clooney Girl, as numerous outlets reported that Keibler and the Hollywood A-lister/serial dater were an item before the two began appearing in public together.

Sable Achieves Iconic Status in the WWE Before Marrying UFC Star Brock Lesnar

3 of 5

Sable was the biggest female star in the WWE at the inception of the Attitude Era.  The former Women's Champion helped define the WWE's popular and revolutionary boom period.

Following friction with the company highlighted by a $110 million lawsuit filed by the superstar Diva citing sexual harassment, Sable left the WWE in 1999.

Sable made a brief return from 2003 to 2004, when she began dating WWE top star Brock Lesnar, whom she met during her 2003 comeback run.

After Lesnar's departure from the company in 2004, the former WWE Champion would go on to become an even bigger star as a UFC Heavyweight Champion.  Sable and Lesnar would go on to wed, and are now the parents of two children.

Following her release from her WWE contract in 2008, Torrie Wilson has since pursued outside options in reality television.

Trish Stratus Goes out on Top, Continues to Stay There

5 of 5

One of the bigger post-wrestling success stories in history is that of Trish Stratus, who achieved super stardom as a perennial WWE Women's Championship contender during the Attitude Era.

While Stratus started out as a fitness model, she shed the preconceived notion as just a pretty face with a Hall of Fame career that set the standard for the next generation of WWE Divas.

Stratus parted ways with the company following a Women's Championship win over Lita that would prove to be her final match as a regular performer.

Stratus has since gone on to star in a traveling show on Canadian television, be featured as a trainer on WWE's Tough Enough program, and open her own Yoga Studio called Stratusphere Yoga, a venture that continues to grow to this day.
