Unless you have been living under a rock, you know GSP will not be defending his belt against Carlos Condit at UFC 137...but all is not lost.
There are still some explosive, meaningful, and most important entertaining fights in Las Vegas this Saturday night. You may even see GSP hobble into the arena to make an appearance and say, "I am not impressed by your performance."
BJ Penn will be headlining against the enigmatic Nick Diaz in a possible number one contender fight. It's definitely not set in stone, but the winner could go on to challenge the winner of the Condit/GSP fight, when it happens of course.
Also, Matt "Meathead" Mitrione will look to maintain his perfect record against the dangerous comeback knockout heavyweight gatekeeper in Cheick Kongo. This will be a power punching clash that will most likely not go to the judges cards.
Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, a fan favorite, will try to continue his surprising run toward a title shot when he takes on the crafty Dennis Siver. This fight will shake up things in the lightweight division. (Watch out for that spinning back kick, Cowboy)
And for all you that love before and after pictures, Roy Nelson (who supposedly got in leaner shape for this fight) looks to put another legend out to pasture when he meets the man simply known as "Cro Cop."
Many thanks go out to our trusted content partner Heavy.com MMA for providing the following pre fight videos.
Donald Cerrone. Best bud Leonard Garcia. Waveboarding? Nam Phan? Dropping to 145?
Just check out the interview and you'll see what's going on in the Cowboy's world.
With a win against Dennis Siver, Cerrone puts himself in fantastic position for a possible title shot in the very near future. But does he care? He just loves to fight.
Roy "Medium Sized Country" Nelson? Okay, that just doesn't sound good.
Even in the interview Roy looks smaller, but he looks like a very large Kenny Loggins or maybe Joe Dirt. Hopefully his fight game is in better shape than his beard. Okay, maybe the beard is epic.
'Meathead' is 5-0 in the UFC. Can you believe that.
Honestly, who could have thought he would be this good when we watched TUF 10?
He is taking a step up in competition against Cheick Kongo. We'll get a chance to see if Mitrione is the real deal or just another guy.
Cheick Kongo revisits the unbelievable 'comeback of the year' versus Pat Barry (don't you think that should be nominated for an ESPY?) with Heavy MMA and discusses his face-off against Matt Mitrione.
Somebody is getting knocked out.
What can be said about Nick Diaz that hasn't already been said.
I'm honestly surprised he's doing this interview...even though he's not media-savvy, he is ring savvy and will bring the fight to BJ Penn on Saturday night.
Future UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn will headline another card as he positions himself for another potential title run.
It's not surprising that Diaz idolized Penn, but is it surprising that Penn has a bit of admiration for Diaz? Despite that, they won't be admiring each other once Bruce Buffer finishes talking.
Look forward to a possible fight of the night.
