WWE News: John Cena, CM Punk, and a Closer Look at the RAW Walkout No-Shows

Alfred KonuwaOct 6, 2011

WWE's recent show-ending angle on RAW revolved around a roster-wide vote of no confidence as it pertained to Triple H's presumed future as Chief Operating Officer of the WWE.

The vote of no confidence spoke volumes, but nothing said more than when virtually the entire roster walked out on Triple H to conclude the show--effectively giving the former 13-time world champion a vote of no confidence.

What stood out as much as any single vote from members of the WWE roster was the absence of four top WWE superstars who WWE creative obviously did not want booed as top babyfaces.

Sheamus, Randy Orton, John Cena and CM Punk were on the Mount Rushmore of no-shows who opted not to take part in the public vote of no-confidence.

CM Punk has made his intentions clear, while the remaining three superstars still have some explaining to do.  A closer look at each individual who missed the festivities tells a different story on a case-by-case basis.

1. Sheamus' Absence Could Mean Good Things for a Bright Future

1 of 4

Sheamus being absent from the vote of no confidence shows WWE's confidence in their Irish star as a top babyface.

WWE was willing to allow squeaky-clean babyfaces such as Air Boom and John Morrison to be unceremoniously booed for walking out on Triple H, however Sheamus' absence shows WWE's willingness to protect the former WWE Champion and his surging stock.

There is already talk of Sheamus being in line for a major push as Vince McMahon continues to fawn over his untapped talents.  Sheamus' inclusion in the 12-man tag-team main event and subsequent absence paint a very positive picture going forward for the Celtic Warrior.

2. CM Punk's Absence from the RAW Walkout Justified with a Long Twitter Rant

2 of 4

Never one to bite his tongue, CM Punk made his feelings known about the walkout and then some via twitter:

"

"I think a lot of people are missing the point. Fans and coworkers alike. Walking out is a pussy move. There's a huge difference in what I did. I want change, and I can't change shit from my couch. I'm in the fox hole. I'm getting it done. I stayed to fight and I'm fighting for change.

"You can protest, violently or peacefully without actually showing up. Walking out isn't a solution. At least not one that I've ever seen work. Hold 'em up. Make them change. Don't just walk out, or lay down. Fight."

"This goes for fans as well. Bored? Don't like (John Cena)? Want more (Zack Ryder)? Show up and be heard. Don't be a pussy and just tweet about it. I want change, and I'll stand and fight for it even if I'm alone. Popular or unpopular, I could care less. Take your voting and shove it.

"Actions speaks louder than words. Except mine. My words are pretty awesome. No(sic) think about all that, and hopefully you'll get it...You CAN'T protest without showing up. I am not Gandhi. I will kick your face. Don't like HHH as COO? Punch him in the face. I did. It's wrestling, not the NBA. #fight"

"

This is a smart move by CM Punk/WWE to suddenly side with Triple H, who immediately garnered babyface heat and sympathy after losing the entire locker room on national television with John Laurinaitis watching on like a buzzard hovering around John Morrison's WWE career.

Punk and the rest of the top stars are advertised for next week's RAW, so his recent rant may be an indication that the "locker room leaders" intend on standing behind Triple H with the hope that the rest of the locker room falls in line.

3. Randy Orton Says Little About Walkout-Related Activities

3 of 4

Randy Orton took the promoter route in "explaining" his actions, or lack thereof, as he too took to his twitter, saying:

"

“Many of you have asked me where I stand with HHH’s vote of confidence. Undecided, so I will see all of u live from Oklahoma City for RAW…and someone will be on the receiving end of an RKO.”

"

Orton's response to the WWE walkout was not nearly as entertaining or wordy as that of CM Punk's, but this incarnation of Orton has always been a man of more action and facial expressions than words.

Orton will address the walkout on this week's episode of SmackDown, but don't expect any real action or statement to be delivered until the follow-up RAW next week.

4. John Cena's Self-Imposed Gag Order Regarding the RAW Walkout

4 of 4

John Cena is the consummate company guy, and will very likely be the glue that holds the company together as part of an art-imitating-life storyline.

Cena has been rather silent on his Twitter as of late, and has had been silent on his Twitter since October 2.

Cena will likely do his talking once he has memorized his script come Monday, where he will probably give a rah-rah speech about never giving up and doing right by the company in the face of adversity.
