Michael Vick Injury: Eagles Star's Beatdown of 49ers Will Be Message to NFL
After a wild beginning to the 2011 NFL season, Michael Vick will have the redemption he desires so much against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.
Despite several injuries, including a deeply bruised hand, NBC Sports is reporting that Vick will be available for Sunday’s game:
Week 1 brought the Philadelphia Eagles a win against the St. Louis Rams, but Vick didn’t have the best game of his career. He completed just 14 passes for 187 yards and a terrible 43.8 percent completion average.

The victory over the Rams was a temporary band-aid for the problems that would later unfold upon Vick’s first journey back to the Georgia Dome as a starting quarterback.
Vick was having a stellar game against Atlanta, despite being roughed up due to poor offensive line play. What's more, it was a shot that Vick took from his own player that knocked the quarterback out with a concussion.
The Eagles went on to lose that game.
As if a week of uncertainty around Vick’s concussion wasn’t bad enough, the Eagles' Week 3 matchup was against their division rivals, the New York Giants. Vick eventually was cleared to play, and looked solid until he got hit awkwardly again.
Sidelined for the second-straight week, the Eagles quarterback had to sit on the bench with what the doctors told him was a broken hand. He then had to watch his team lose in a heartbreaker to the Giants.
The tests that occurred on Monday then revealed that the quarterback's hand had not been broken. Instead, he had a deep bone bruise that caused extreme discomfort.
The question immediately arose, can he play in Week 4?
All signs point to Vick playing against the 49ers, which is the worst news that Jim Harbaugh and San Francisco could ever hear.
Their team is solid, they are not on the same level as the Eagles.
San Francisco run a 3-4 defense, but they are not one of the more exotic blitzing teams. This should allow the Eagles' subpar offensive line to give Vick enough time to make his passes without being crushed on the follow-through.
While the 49ers' lack of a pass rush is a good sign for the Eagles, they do have a stellar run defense. That being the case, Vick may have to put the team on his shoulders and pass the team to a victory.
The hand injury will have an impact on Vick on Sunday, but expect the kind of game he had against the Washington Redskins last season to show the NFL that he is back and can’t be held down.
