Mayweather vs. Ortiz: Why a Rematch Would Benefit Both Fighters
Floyd Mayweather's controversial victory over Victor Ortiz left many fans wanting more, in the form of a rematch.
A rematch would not only benefit both fighters, it would settle the score the right way in a fight that would have been great if it hadn't ended so quickly.
Mayweather's sucker punch on Ortiz was not the proper way to end that fight, and the aftermath was much debated by the boxing media and fans.

It wasn't an easy fight for Mayweather, who needs a rematch to really set the record straight that he's better than Ortiz right now.
With the Ortiz fight in the past, Mayweather will likely have a long awaited bout with Manny Pacquiao, but former champ Oscar De La Hoya wants an Ortiz vs. Mayweather rematch soon.
De La Hoya said the following via the International Business Times:
""What I am going to pursue is what's right for Victor. He's a young guy. A young lion should not go out like that. A young lion like Victor should have another opportunity, because it was only the fourth round.
"In the fourth round, you're barely warming up. You're 24 years old. I'm going to fight for a rematch for Victor. He's going to be world champion once again, that's my feeling."
"
While a rematch is the best way to settle the score between Mayweather and Ortiz, the possibility of Floyd fighting Pacquiao is too much for the sport to ignore.
That epic bout is long overdue, and the sport of boxing needs that fight quite honestly.Ā Boxing isn't as popular as it used to be, so having two of it's most popular and successful fighters square off in an all-time match would be wonderful for the sport.
Victor Ortiz is just 24 years old, and has a great career ahead of him, but as much as a rematch would benefit him now, it's unlikely to happen.
