WWE Night of Champions 2011: The 6 Most Surprising Moments of the Night
WWE Night of Champions was an eventful night to say the least, and it was full of great and disappointing moments.
Of the six championships, only two changed hands on Sunday night. One of those title changes was a little bit of a surprise and the other could have been easily predicted.
Here are my top six surprising moments of the night.
6. Kelly Kelly Wore SLEEVES!
So is the WWE trying to cover Kelly Kelly up?
She normally covers about two and a half percent of her body during a regular match, but tonight she wore sleeves! She covered about 10 percent of her body!
Definitely a more comical surprise, and I'm guessing that a lot of people were surprised to see her walk out of Buffalo with the belt.
5. John Cena Arrives in Del Rio's Car
Oh no he didn't.
John Cena arrived in a car and Alberto Del Rio did not. To make it worse for Del Rio, Cena arrived in ADR's car.
Cena made a mockery of Del Rio tonight, but more on this match in a bit.
4. Cody Rhodes' Mask Came Off
Ted DiBiase may not have defeated Cody Rhodes at Night of Champions, but he certainly made an impact.
The WWE universe has been waiting for our "disfigured" friend to lose his "protective" mask and the events of Sunday night may be the step towards a mask-less Cody Rhodes.
It was pretty awesome and surprising when DiBiase tore the mask off of Rhodes' face and hopefully the mask is lost for good in the near future.
3. Dolph Ziggler Retained the United States Championship
The WWE threw a curveball at it's viewers on Sunday night when they had Dolph Ziggler pin John Morrison after a powerbomb by Jack Swagger.
I thought that Ziggler was ready to move on past the United States Championship especially since he has had it for a few months but clearly that was not the case at Night of Champions.
Ziggler stole the victory away from Swagger and despite how surprising it may have been, this was in fact a good move by the WWE as they now have a good rivalry formed here and they continue to develop the angle involving Vickie Guerrero.
2. Kevin Nash Didn't Take a Side
A whole lot happened in the main event of the night when Triple H faced off against CM Punk and it was easy to get lost if you got up to take a bathroom break.
The Miz and R-truth both came into the ring and beat up Triple H and Punk, but clearly wanted Triple H to lose when they laid Punk on top of the Game. The COO kicked out though and the conspiracy against the Awesome Truth struck for the second time in one night.
After, we saw John Lauranitis send a text and minutes later, Kevin Nash was entering the ring. I expected him to beat up one of the two and make it clear as to who's side he is on but instead he showed us that he was on his own side.
If Kevin Nash did have a motive other than beating up both Punk and Triple H, we weren't able to find out because of a certain sledgehammer.
We have a lot to look forward to tomorrow night as the plot of this storyline continues to deepen.
1. John Cena Won... Again
Alberto Del Rio didn't win the Royal Rumble did he?
He didn't when Money in the Bank either did he?
He didn't cash in and become WWE Champion did he?
Oh wait. He did do all of those things. But now it doesn't matter since SuperCena has made his triumphant return.
Everything the WWE has done with Alberto Del Rio has been a giant waste of time and opportunity. The WWE couldn't build up Del Rio into a legitimate champion for some reason and now they have buried him.
Del Rio needed more than just a month with the belt and the WWE gains absolutely nothing from Cena winning it for the twelfth time.
I was shocked when Cena won the belt tonight and I hope something can be done to correct this seemingly colossal mistake.
Share your thoughts, I want to know what everyone else thought of Night of Champions.
