Mayweather vs. Ortiz Fight Time: What Time Will Tonight's Main Event Begin?
Floyd Mayweather's lengthy absence from the ring ends tonight as he takes on the young and powerful Victor Ortiz at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where live broadcast begins at 9 p.m. ET.
Of course, there will be a few hours before the main event actually kicks off, given that there are three undercard fights. There is no set time for Mayweather and Ortiz to step into the ring, but the absolute latest would be around 12:30 a.m ET, and that's assuming all three undercards go the distance (which they won't).
After the appetizers, and plenty of broadcast hype from HBO, Mayweather and Ortiz should square off around 11:30 ET.

The first fight of the night is a matchup of junior welterweights Jessie Vargas (16-0, 9 KO's) and Josesito Lopez (29-3, 17 KO's). The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds. Given the high percentage of knockouts between the two, this one likely won't last that long.
Following that is another junior welterweight showdown between father time himself, Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KO's) and Pablo Cesar Cano (22-0-1, 17 KO's). Cano's record is impressive, but he has yet to fight someone of El Terrible's caliber. Morales should win, but Cano's youthful energy will make sure this goes the full 12 rounds.
The co-feature of the night will be a battle for Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's (37-0-1, 27 KO's) junior middleweight title. Alvarez is challenged by Alfonzo Gomez (23-4-2, 12 KO's), who you may remember from the reality show "The Contender." This one is scheduled for 12 rounds, but I'm predicting Alvarez to win by late round knockout.
In the main event, I'm expecting Mayweather (41-0, 25 KO's) to dominate Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KO's) and take his welterweight title. Ortiz will be competitive in the early rounds, but look for Mayweather to wear him down before finishing it in the seventh or eighth round.
Mayweather's age will catch up to him at some point, but not tonight. He's just too fast, too experienced, and too good for Ortiz.
