While Pique discussed his future with Barca, he has to inform himself about Barca including finances. Javier Faus (FC Barcelona Finance Vice President) acknowledged that the club needs to reduce its debt further.
Faus proposed (in the Barca website) a change in the statutes that would set a limit on debt. The change would also include a prohibition on the closing of a season with losses.
Faus also proposed the inclusion of mandatory reserve assets on a yearly basis in order to stabilize Barca's finances. Faus acknowledged that the debt incurred by Barca was reduced from 430 to 364 million euros or 15.5 percent.
Faus recognized that the ideal debt for Barca would be "over 200 Million Euros". Barca has written a budget for the 2011-2012 season which includes a cost of 430.2 million euros, profit of 20.1 million euros, and revenue to the tune of 461.1 million euros.
Faus admitted that FC Barcelona would have to win the Spanish League and be able to reach the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. It remains to be seen what will transpire with Barca.
