UFC 134 Fight Card: Rio, Anderson Silva, and His Special Moment Fighting at Home

Sal DeRoseJun 7, 2018

Anderson Silva has done it all in his legendary UFC career. He has broken records, snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, and embarrassed some of the best fighters the UFC has offered him.

Now here it is, the one thing Silva has yet to do in his UFC career: fight in his home country of Brazil.

It is a huge honor to fight in Brazil as many of the Brazilians fighting on this UFC 134 card have said.

But, take a look at the card and notice who is the most honored.

Even on a card that features Brazilian all-time greats Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Silva is the main event and the crown jewel of this event.

Go back a few months, and you'll remember Mark Hominick fighting in his backyard at UFC 129, coming out to "I'm Coming Home" by Diddy. You'll also remember the show he put on for his friends and family in attendance and how great of a fight it was.

This is the fight in which Silva brings it, feeding off the energy that will be present in Brazil, wanting to entertain for his home country, and simply due to the fact that after all the dust settles and clears, he is Anderson Silva.

This is an intense moment for Silva, fighting in Rio. Fighting a guy like Yushin Okami is a good test for Silva, but realizing how much energy Silva will have, it becomes super hard to pick Okami.

Silva will be a force in this epic moment of defending his crown in his home country of Brazil on the first UFC card to take place in Brazil since UFC 17.5, 13 years ago.

If there were ever a moment to be pumped for a Silva fight, now is the time. The whole fact that Silva is fighting in Brazil makes him seem invincible, unbeatable, and pretty much any hyperbolic adjective you can think of.

Tonight at UFC 134, Silva will come out and fight 10 times better then anyone has seen.

Feeding off of his home country, Brazil.
