WWE News: Could John Laurinaitis Be the Raw General Manager?
First things first, this is just pure speculation on my part after observation of recent events. I honestly doubt Creative thinks that the entire fan base has followed each and every move made by the Raw GM.
On Monday Night Raw, Kevin Nash interrupted the main event in a very predictable fashion. It is almost an unwritten rule of wrestling that anytime a major person leaves mid-show, they are bound to return to cause chaos.
For those who didn't tune in or just would like a concise recap, Kevin Nash was asked to leave the show after sucker punching CM Punk. Triple H explained that Nash didn't work for the company and that he couldn't lay a hand on Punk.
Nash did what he did best and performed his best Cee Lo Green impression and said f*^& you authority as he gave Punk a big right hand to the face. Triple H escorted Big Sexy to the parking lot and asked him to leave. Fans watching knew right away that this segment would continue in some way.
Enter Funkman, Johnny Ace, John Laurinaitis or whatever you want to call him. Somehow the Canadian authorities happen to have Funkman's number on speed dial because he received a call that Kevin Nash was in a car crash and was being transported to the hospital.
Conveniently, Triple H leaves and Mr Laurinaitis was put in charge. This is another not so big surprise for those keeping score at home.
Moving on to the main event, Punk and Cena had a great match. There was near fall after near fall and it looked like any man could come out on top at a moment's notice. When the match got to the point where both Punk and Cena had hit and kicked out of each's respective finishers it was about that time where the fans knew something was up.
Conspicuously, Nash reappeared, got on the mic and distracted the ever cunning CM Punk unconvincingly walked into an Attitude Adjustment by John Cena.
Looking at the facts of the matter it is safe to assume three things stemming from last week's Raw.
1) Kevin Nash and John Laurinaitis are working together
Last week, Laurinaitis asked Nash to come down to his office where they could talk in private. How was it that Nash appeared on Raw again despite the fact that Laurinaitis told COO Triple H he was in the hospital. The two have obviously conspired against Triple H. Laurinaitis obviously holds a grudge against Triple H.
Laurinaitis has been a corporate executive in WWE for over 10 years. Triple H was a wrestler turned "suit" all because he is married to Stephanie McMahon in Laurinaitis' eyes.
2) John Laurinaitis signed Kevin Nash to a contract
I mean come on, John Laurinaitis is indeed the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations. It is his job to hire and fire individuals as he sees fit.
For what other reason was Nash allowed to just walk back in without being stopped by security?
When he returned to Raw he didn't jump the barricade. He clearly walked in from the back and down the aisle towards the ring. Obviously as a superstar he would have permission to be in the building. I realize he was signed to a Legends contract going back but for storyline purposes this fact has been overlooked.
3) John Laurinaitis could be the Raw General Manager
We have seen what Laurinaitis has done onscreen with his new found power so it would be safe to assume that he has ordered things behind the screen via emails to Michael Cole.
If you think about it, the way Creative has run the Raw GM storyline, they could explain it by the events of the following weeks. Laurinaitis is a shrewd negotiator and would be a great heel authority figure.
This storyline started out as a single feud involving CM Punk being screwed out of the WWE Title. It has now taken another turn and is involving the now strained relationship of Kevin Nash and Triple H. With Laurinaitis now involved, Creative can spin this feud in many different directions.
I for one would love to see Triple H vs Kevin Nash feud because neither has anything to gain or lose here. A feud with either involving CM Punk would be fun but not at this point.
However this is not about what I think. You, the reader and fan of WWE have a voice.
What would you like to see happen with this current feud?
Wrestling is for the fans, and we have a voice. We want wrestling, and I feel this is a great way to air out some ideas.
